I'm not a huge fan of the line but I do have a little of it in my Charlie dog. If obtained from the right people it's as good as any..

It was basically a three way cross that clicked.

Like all families that started with a cross from solid families the key to perpetuation is selection. The first few litters were made by people with first hand knowledge and the selection process was made by the informed.

By it being pretty much a 3 way cross his vein could be re-introduced to the straight RBJ dogs, or the heavy Red Boy dogs, or the heavy Bolio dogs and even the dogs that made Jocko.

The family split in a thousand directions but there was enough there to be really good in all those directions, with some higher percentages to boot.

Then just like every other family in these dogs, and every other family from every other breed the ability to profit reared its ugly head.

From there comes the steady decline for the family as a whole. Then just as AGK eluded to, 'if they come from the right people they are as good as any'.

As time passes and the profitability rises, the 'golden vein' fades. There are fewer and fewer good ones to choose from so the poorer quality ones with heavy papers are inbred. Thus the downward spiral of the family.

So yes, at one time it was a golden vein. They brought durability, gameness, mouth and intensity and they seemed to use the one that was needed at the particular time it was needed. As good as any.

Time and profit gets them all as a family. And that point they all end up like AGK said, it is where (who) you find them.

And one could plug any famous dog into the title of this thread and the same will ring true.

Sorry for the Sunday morning babbling.

Like any ambitious entrepreneur who believes in his product, there will be some level of marketing hype.

Mr. Lopez has great looking dogs for sure; I’m a sucker for red/red nose with some bone/muscle…like GrCh Machobuck…but from lines not far from the roots of what the breed was originally designed for.

Future project of mine is finding a 100% made in US bulldog with genetic ability, agility and drives to run, swim, dock-dive, frisbee, obedience, grip, and hammer a decoy with bad intent like a police street K9 (lol golden vein). I think dogs like this can be found, but for the money/availability/reliability, the working shepherd breeds from European working lines (Belgian, Dutch, Czech) are hard to beat in these disciplines. Apples vs pears I suppose..

    Very true.

When buying a puppy or dog and the seller says his dogs will do all these things, the best advice is to run. LOL

There was a AMSTAFF weight puller near here some years ago. The dogs were stout and impressive. The weight they were pulling was out of this world as I had no idea. Over in the corner of the yard was a spindly looking, red/red nose male who had shredded an igloo dog house and was working on the chain link fence. He did not fit the bill of a 'staff weight pulling yard'. I asked about him and I was told when a litter starts leaning toward laziness with a lessened amount of drive I add him to the mix.

He was an inbred Red Boy dog from the same yard as my dogs were coming from just bred way heavier than anything I had. Mine were Red Boy-Snooty-Bolio blends. His was 3/4 to 7/8th Red Boy. I was way jealous. Then pissed when I asked about breeding to him. He had been a gift with the clause he could not be bred to another game dog.

The sheps/malinois dogs of today are tons away from the dogs that were herding sheep a hundred/two hundred years ago thru selection in the brood pen and proofing on the working field.

If someone would take the pitdogs and do the same, a hundred years from now we could put them as whole right there with the malinois/sheps in the working world. Maybe even surpass....(but I am a little biased to the bulldog, LOL)

Watched a few videos lately where Chico stated his dogs were superior to other lines , he compared them to an expensive Channel number 5 perfume, whereas other lines were only cheap imitations, I sat there thinking I never heard such bullshit and money grabbing hype in all my life.. I respect Chico's contribution to the game and I understand he got some good dogs there, but come on!!!! He took his Golden vein dog CH.Lindo to Serbia and it got whooped quick style.
Look at the liquid gold flowing through CH.Lindo's veins

Chico is trying to create an elite brand in bulldogs, they'll cost a fortune and they'll win and lose just the same as any other line.. I've know people who spend £500 for designer jeans and won't even get them dirty.. I spend £10 at Asda, they look ok and last just as long.

I don't think there's any doubt about Mayday or Buck hounds, proven blood that can compete anywhere on the planet.. What I'm saying is Chico Lopez ain't the only source for those dogs, but he's a hell of a good salesman.

I'm far from educated on the Mayday dogs, I've only seen a few, some shit, but also saw a Lukane x Machobuck female I'd happily build a yard on.. I like seeing dogs with my own eyes first (seeing is believing) then I look for 'WORKING' parents, then I look sideways for 'WORKING' siblings, then I go from there.. I was aware of Tant's dogs since the late 80's, every month in SDJ Tant's dogs were competing and winning in the high percentages, that never escaped me.. Lately I been looking at the GR.CH.Yellowman dogs and liking what I'm hearing, but there must be 100's of worthy Mayday dogs and crosses off those dogs, same as there's 100's of worthy different bred dogs and crosses off them too!

Yall got me laughin a lil with this one this morning. Now that the day is almost gone..and have an hour or so to sit before dog time...
That level of comp is high dollar. There is a lot of bickering back n forth. Ill say..i have chatted with TCF .. asked him a question for an article. He is a proud man as should any be.
I believe it is the personality types and differences that seem to develope over time...and success.
It is almost near impossible to remain humble at times. It is a true test.

I made a video that touched on how many of the fellas and galls at the top of their games in the dogs, are proud. Many times that pride can come across as boastfulness. It is all in the eyes of the reader.

The recent politically charged way if life has caused folks to look at all those around them. Good ..bad...winners n losers.
    Take each case by case.

According to some of the things I have heard...and read.. Many of the folks seem as if there is no comparison ...

If the deck is shuffled right....there should be no thing that should affect finding the best dog. Distance and money can win by them selves if played right....
That is sad and the dogs suffer....people also..as they can be guided one way or another based on such.

I like the info put in about what has beat them... If our world was atleast in the same chapter..let alone book...as other places....laws and morals...it would be a different place.

It is a very popular line like some said above. Many veins of the family. Maybe this is why he is so adamant that he is the best source. Very well known and quite a following.

I was meaning...since his dogs are doing good and many others from that family and crossed are are as well, that everyone has been breeding and selling it.
My post was mainly to say that maybe he has noticed some folks breeding similar to get similar result.
The blood and crosses are very popular.

As far as what you are hinting at kiwi...i dont think he is... And much why he is open and competes at that level....no room for fear i guess.
