What color(s) was Reid's Dylan? (idle curiosity)

Something I have wondered ever since reading The Book of the APBT and the caption "This dog has ideal Pit Bull confirmation, but his coloration makes him atypical". At least I finally know why the caption says that. This is the only color photo I have seen of him.

It says "red, black mask" but in the photo it appears more like "brown/chocolate with tan points tricolor". (Beautiful dog.)

 

Looks tri color I'm curious what's in the 4th on either side

 

Color is dark fawn w/black ticking....not tri-colored.

 

Oh I see. either way nice looking animal happened to know what's behind the dog ? Curious to the uniqueness of his look and from where he's pulling it from

 

Nevermind looked it up what color was Ironhead

 

Props. I thought something-and-tan at first because of his facial color scheme, but his back and sides aren't solid brown. I need a new pair of nerd glasses.

Never saw a color pic of Ironhead that I can think of but looks like he's probably the same, dark fawn w/blk ticking.

 

I have seen that "eyebrow" on various breeds and crosses but I had never seen it on a bulldog before.

That was the term I was trying to remember -- what that color is called in shepherd dogs. I would love to own a game sable dog.

 

I think the widow's peak thing was talked about on a post about hemphill dogs not 100% sure though

 

Yeah,i thought it was a sable colour.but not sure.as sometimes it's hard to tell of a picture......should we class "tri colour" ,as sable???

Technically sable and white is a form of tricolor since it consists of brown, black and white. I think sable is the best term for Dylan. Here is a sable Malamute with white trim for comparison, from nicolescritters.homestead.com.
