Good story about Jack Kelly, love that stuff :) Spider was a 1xw when I got her.. Back then AS (NKK) was in contact with the NC dogmen including Fat Bill and owner of this female

He asked Rastaman about Spider, guy said she was bonafide 1xw who got disqualified in her 2nd show after she scratched into the referee instead of the hog, even asked how the hell Spider's new owner managed to get her through quarantine :) She was all I could have wanted and when I bred her to Ch.Scotsman's Max, my intention was to follow examples of other Zebo x Kingfish crosses like the dogs below.. Sadly it never worked out.

I owned a daughter and granddaughter of Glory's Gino, they were a mix of Gino x Mayfield x Carolina Abbey, but I can't remember their exact pedigrees now? They were gifted to me, but I think a rumour was going round that Gino stopped in UK so I never took much notice of their breeding, maybe others will know if there's any truth behind the rumour!? The daughter of Gino was a red bitch called 'Gina', the granddaughter was a year old white bitch w/ brown cow patches called Missy and both were game as pebbles! The guy who bred Grand Champion Bill never liked me too much, he was friendly with a couple of boys we called Pygmy Kennels (one of them actually was a dwarf) they had a daughter of Reid's Skipper called Misty Blue and brought her over to my yard one night.. We were out the back looking at my dogs when Misty Blue came straight out of nowhere and hit Gina as she sat on her chain! They said they forgot to close the car door properly and Misty Blue must have escaped, she was obviously talented and rough.. Gina probably one of the worst bitches I ever seen, but she was game! I ran into the shed to fetch breaking sticks, but by the time I got back, Misty Blue was running up the field, away from the action with a dwarf chasing her and Gina jumping at the end of her chain screaming for more.. One of the funniest things I ever seen.. Good days! The white female below is Glory's Gino's granddaughter Missy!

Wasn’t bazo from brock x a pit oldguy ... how did he fare ??

Bazo 1xw was Ch.Brock x Carolina Abbey mate! He was an idiot, constantly digging up stones and wrecking his teeth! Totally fight crazy front end dog who never got the attention he deserved, but I was hunting hard at that time and compared to other dogs on the yard, Bazo was B team!.. I should have given him to someone who appreciated the dog, but things always seem clearer viewed in hindsight.

Not that many got decent results from Reid dogs. The vast majority in the 80’s that went on to import or later use other lines, started of with dogs from Reid/Skipper blood. The Reid dogs were imo low percentage, only a small fraction of them were consistent enough to be considered amongst the best.

No truth to it, just Reid being Reid. Would love to see a wheaten that could stay a few minutes with BJ let alone beat him. BJ was very good, comparable to any dog produced in the UK, including any mentioned on this thread.

yeah to be honest,i thought it sounded a bit ridiculous, years later i spoke to MD on the phone,at the time he was well out of the dogs and heavily into pigeon racing,i wanted to ask him about it,but thought better of it,i didn't know what sort of relationship he had with Ed,and didn't want to be at the middle of stirring any shit between them,i asked him about BJ and he told me he was a very good dog etc and i left it at that.I remember him telling me he just had the one dog there at the time,a Two Toes dog which was a pet.and that was that.

Blueboy while i respect your opinion of the Reid skipper dogs, i do strongly disagree with you on this ,ive tried to talk to as many people as possible, studied match reports, peds and in particular the men and dogs behind skipper,IE the american dogs and dogmen, and having done so,all i am saying is this if i had a magic time machine and could go back in time i would be knocking on Reids door for a couple of skipper dogs. Now im not saying that my understanding of the dogs is as deep as yours,i dont even know you,it is just my humble opinion.

Blueboy i just read your last post again there, didnt a lot of reid dogs end up in the hands of pet owners? and also surely eventually dog men would have to bring in other blood, firstly to improve the gene pool but also because they could nt just keep breeding reid dog to reid dog? when im saying reid dogs i mean mainly skipper dogs.

I love this thread by the way, for me it is right up there with the WHO STOLE GR CH ART one, still trying to decipher who the yanks are talking about, think i needed an enigma machine for that one.

Reid and Dann both bred entire litters of puppies in pursuit of profit, that's surely beyond any dispute. It's clear when you breed puppies on an industrial scale in the way they did, there's going to be a percentage of shit, a % of good dogs who went to pet homes and never given the opportunity to shine, a % of good dogs who went to pet homes and because their owner couldn't cope with their desire to fight got PTS. a % of dogs who either by luck or design ended in the hands of a working dogman who made a good reputation for the dog, owner, breeder and the breed in general.
Reid and Dann probably produced more shit than anyone else by simple virtue of the fact they sold more puppies from untested parentage and in blatant pursuit of profit than anyone else. I'm not in denial about that!
In post #585 I mentioned a direct daughter of Reid's Skipper called Misty Blue, last seen running up the field away from one of the worst bitches I ever laid eyes on, but equal to that, I saw the pride of Maurice Dann's kennel handed to a man in the north east, they were Two Toes, Dann's Billy and Mayfield bred dogs and long story short.. Rank curs! I don't think we're here to discuss the shit Reid and Dann bred, but the good ones!
I disagree with your comment that not many got decent results from Reid dogs.. There's a tsunami of documented evidence that states otherwise! I was always aware of Bolio jnr bred dogs like Dann's BJ and Howe's Bo, also aware of Patrick's Henryetta who produced Johnsons Zeita.. I was impressed by Northern Lad's Gully, heard great things about Ch.Billy Broken Tail and Ch.Flash, but they weren't bred by Dann. I got no doubts Champion BJ was a very good dog, but how many champions did BJ defeat on his way to becoming champion? How many champions did he produce who went on to defeat other champions? Is he really comparable to the dogs mentioned in this thread?
I don't care about Ed Reid, only the dogs bred down from Reid that got worked and gained great reputation in Scotland and the north east during the 80's.. The best of those was Grand Champion Bill, he defeated 2 champions and 2 dogs who were going for titles and done them easy! IMO comparing Dann's CH BJ to Junkyard Boys GR.CH.Bill is like comparing a Ford Focus to a Bentley, no disrespect intended!
