Now granted I’ve just acquired Ciara back from my ex. Well I took her. He was allowing her to be abused and neglecting her. So my situation is far less than ideal theee dogs in an apartment but I’m working on it. It’s only been a few days so all the dogs are stressed some (though re-assimilating nicely though I do have the break sticks back out JIC).

I cleaned it out good, slathered it in coconut oil, wrapped it and she’s in the dreaded cone of shame to keep her from making it worse.

It looks like a growth is there. Soft and squishy with no blood from the growth itself only where she’s been gnawing on it. Any ideas as to cause? Could it be related some way to the ALD? Any suggestions as to better treatment ideas?

    It looks like a wart.

That was my initial thought too. A wart that she’s gnawed on. The stress I am sure adds to it. Just ordered some meds and balm to keep it clean and heal it up.

    Thanks

Speaking from experience, growths in and around pads can be cancerous.

Well that’s not what I wanted to hear. I’m going to give it a week or two, a course of ceph, and see if/how it heals up and go from there. If it doesn’t heal up, comes back or gets worse I’ll have it looked at/biopsied if necessary. IF it’s cancerous a week or two isn’t going to have a dramatic difference.

I'm sure somebody would have said it if I hadn't.

That's ugly. Vet tomorrow? Or worth two weeks worry & maybe end up at Vet anyway.

Careful your ex doesn't see it....

I adopted a dog I found in the middle of no where and he had what looked to be similar to what yours has.I don't know who had him or why they threw him away but through good food and care it went away .What a beautiful dog he turned into.Anyways a vet visit is never a bad idea when a unknown is involved and Good Luck to you.

This boy gets 3 cups of grain free a day and you couldn't pinch any fat on him..High strung and loves to run.Good excersize and decent food and good routines will change a lot in a dog.

My ex won’t see anything as we don’t travel in the same circles and he wouldn’t care anyway. He never took any of the dogs to the vet for anything preferring to be in the “if I ignore it, it will go away” crowd. She’s my dog anyway and since dogs are property in PA and I have plenty of ownership records, he doesn’t have a say.

Anyway, sorry touchy subject. It does look better today now that she can’t chew on it but I’ll give the good ole doc a call

    Thanks for all your thoughts.

They eat solid grain free food and all have solid routines. I get them as much exercise as I possibly can right now and am working to change my living situation to get them more. My two are a perfect “pet” weight. Ciara is in rougher shape but I’m working on it.

The part where u said u got Clara back from your ex is what led me to say what I did.

Looks like she was far from a perfect situation.

This high strung dog of mine is on a 15 ft chain 1/4 inch diameter. His favorite thing is fetch but he gets bored so he wont bring you the stick after a while and wants you to chase him.So I chase him around for a little while and then he chases me around a little while and then we play fetch some more.lol he is high strung. But it works .

Sounds like the two pups. Ciara will fetch all day if you let her but her hips are bad and she’s overweight so we are taking things slow. I can’t wait to fix my living situation so I can get decent chain set ups and get them all more exercise.

Her leg is looking MUCH better today. Now just looks like a small little lump with a small scab. Given how quickly it looks dramatically better after 24 hours of forced time leaving it alone, I’m electing to wait on the vet. If it comes back or stops healing, doc will be my first call. It’s been a long week for all of them adjusting to Ciara being back.

A good friend of mine has a doberman that had the same looking growth but bigger, started out a size similar to your hound but was on her back. Not sure what it was she had it for over a year and it seemed to slowly grow bigger. It was very hard to the touch and had no puss or anything in it and didn't seem to bother the dog if squeezed/touched. I do no the shitty vet they use wanted $500+ to remove it. After about a year of looking at this nasty growth I had enough of looking at it so I said enough of this bullshit I will fix it. I wrapped a small elastic band around it very tight and it fell off in a week or so. All there is now is a small hairless scare. not saying you should do this by any means just saying it worked well in this case. Maybe find out what it is and go from there.
