Anyone have any opinions on hounds, specifically the Blue Tick Coonhound?

I have a Plott hound pup. She's very hyper and loud. I wouldn't recommend her to a pet home.

We ran Blue Ticks and red ticks as a kid and a Red Bone here and there.

I'm not sure of the pet aspect. Just like any dog, or better yet any breed, it lies with the individual dog and the environment he is put in/owner.

Most issues between the breeds are transferrable so if you are knocking it down with bulldogs a coon hound should be workable.

Ours were hunting dogs. They lived outside either in a group pen or on a chain. They got a ton of people interaction when we hunted and for the most part slopped feed when we were not hunting.

Of the Blue Ticks we never had any biters or any that were aggressive. An occasional fight at the tree but nothing to say it would happen around the house.

The bulldogs around here are the easiest thing to steal. I like having the hound/hound mix dog that will bark when something is in the yard that does not belong in the yard.

I always liked a Blue Lacey Game Dog.
They run scents and are said to be a more layed back scent hound.
