You do a breeding that's been planned , you wait for the pups to mature. No since in loosing one due to lack of good common sence.jmo

I've had a couple grown dogs that will play in the living room and hang out. So I've let them but those are obviously the exceptions. It's cool to watch. But honestly its not the biggest deal if they decide they don't like each other anymore, you just pop them apart and put em up.

I have had a couple that I thought would be OK for short stints but they were few and far between.

A lot of the dogs were bred with axe-murdering, serial-killer in mind. It can be hard to expect anything else. But....

Ch. Angel won three. All three were RIP, either inside or outside shortly thereafter. She was as docile a dog as anyone would ever think about. Her owner would turn her out on the river with two Blue Heelers. They would run and frolic, even do the play fight, wrestle and roll all over each other. I always said he would eventually lose one of those Blue Heelers but it never happened. On the chain the Beagle yard dog would come over and they would drink from the same bowl. She never even got excited when something else happened right beside her. With all that said, cross the threshold of a door way and something inside her simply snapped. She became that axe-murdering serial killer. Flip of a switch.

This is just a precautionary statement for those of the general public thinking about keeping 2 grown game bred Apbt together....The people on here who have done it or know of others who have done it are VERY EXPERIENCED with this type of breed of dog.....This should never be tried or attempted by those who have very little to no experience. ...Majority of Game bred Apbt will not tolerate one another when fully grown. Although there are exception to the rules one of the rules of thumb is its better to be safe then sorry, why chance losing one to an accident that could have been prevented in the first place.

Also the pack mentality is in all breeds including the Game bred Apbt....it just a little different as majority of Game bred Apbt will only see there human counter parts as there pack leader and or part of the pack/family and not any other animal on four legs but of course there are exception to the rules.

I knew a guy that didn't seperate a couple of males, one a yearling, after a small skirmish....He thought it was cute how they played together and didn't want to listen to anybody who told him that it was not a good idea, that is till he almost lost a finger and spent 2 weeks in the hospital healing from that and the numerous bite wounds he got from trying to break them up SMH

These two BULLDOGS weren't raised together, yet they became pals .. I never left them unsupervised, and there were occasions where I had to separate them, but all in all they got along just fine ..

I'm glad Saiy said that because when I read Naus' post he made it seem real easy. "Just pop them apart" seems to be quite a task for a single person, experienced or not. But if you're new to these dogs, trying to 'pop two apart' is going to be almost impossible if you're by yourself. And try doing that without getting bit up yourself. Good luck.

Agreed totally. I thought they were saying two dogs loose in the house type of scenario. I wouldn't want to be the one to break it up lol. May the best one win ..... lol.

Like Bama said them being on the chain is way easier...The incident I talked about in my previous post the guy was all alone and had one dog hanging on his arm lol, good thing there was a bathroom door he was able to get into and shut behind him...again I'm not saying it cant be done, just be cautious;)

We had two twin sisters (born in the same sack) that were raised and kenneled together for almost two years and got along great,,,
they liked each others company and would advance each other in schooling but never really hurt each other...
They slept in the same house and ate out of the same bowl,,, bite for bite they would share...
They never liked others and finally one became an escape artist and needed to be tethered,,,
the two yearned for each others company and the escape artist would scratch into open kennel where her sister was trained to stay with the door open while I fed the others,,, a super smart bitch that mirrored Dirty Mary...
The place we kept our dogs there were teens that hung out at their grandpas farm and I made the mistake of letting them in with the dogs
and it wasn't long before the the Dirty Mary bitch was gone,,, unfortunately my TWIN STUDIES stopped there...
I can say they were far from cold at two and still got along great...

About 2 years ago, I had my dog Charlie inside for a few days. I had him in a crate one night in my sons room. Charlie and Lil Miss Geach are my arch enemies here. They've never got along, most dogs here hate each other but these 2 take it to a different level, even when Charlie was a pup. Geach don't like to compete for my attention at all. In her mind, there can only be 1. Anyway, I fell asleep on my couch one night and woke up around 12:30am. I went upstairs in a half awake state to go to bed but was going to let Charlie outside first. Totally forgot that Geach was not only out loose but she happened to be right behind me at the time when I opened his crate. Geach skull drug Charlie all over my sons room, with white carpeting by the way. She was dragging him by his face up onto his bed. In a total daze I over reached to snatch and grab her and she bit me real good in my hand on a regrip, she let go as soon as she realized it was me sge had and not him but went right back to working him over. She had opened me up to where I could look down and see tendons and bone from one side of my palm to the other. No collars on either and just me here. it was not an easy feat to separate them but eventually I drug them over to the doorway and used it to help me create some leverage. It worked and I sat down, exhausted and adrenaline through the roof. Wide awake now.Got to go to bed 3 hours later after I closed everyone's wounds, mine included and cleaned walls, carpet, a window and my son's bed. Its a really big risk one takes housing more than one indoors. They are smart as fuck and wait patiently for you to make the tiniest little mistake and them damn dogs will capitalize on your screw up fast and quick like. Charlie out weights Geach by at least 10 lbs. However, she can close her mouth and he cant. My lesson that day was always be privy to where the dogs are at all times and do your best not to allow the slightest opportunity for them to get at each other.

I don't even try to get these mutts to coexist anymore. It's more headache than its worth to be honest.

A great reason to have more docile dogs,,,
so when we are slipping the less likely a problem...

I know a man how housed all of his dogs in crates in the house and one thing led to another and he came home to carnage,,,
a half dozen dead or dying dogs that must have looked like the scene from the amores perros movie...

A good reason to have crates in different rooms with closed doors if possible,,,
it might not completely stop an accident but might detour one or slow it a bit...

Two dogs alone is a real pain in the ass but at the very worst you wait till one dog gets tired and goes out of hold then snatch one. The collars really help.

Hopefully there's someone else home that can help but if not eventually they just get tired and need to breathe.

But like Saiy said if you don't know what you're doing please just assume that your dogs can't be together and keep them apart.

I have had some oooops moments to bud.One morning I wake up to put a dog out and was half asleep and for what ever reason when we get out the back door I just unleash him lol.Yep he made a blind straight to his brother and they will just tear each other up at any chance. So much like you I was breaking one up and it was still dark ,I got them separated pretty dam quick considering the circumstances and no damage to me and not a lot to them ..knock on wood. But we gone fuck up and like you say they always ready to take advantage.
