Right,I've always been puzzled by the English/Stafford x and then the red strain witch is said to be a pure line under the same banner as "Irish staff" not nocking the ability of either just wondered who put them in the same boat ?

If you think about it like the k.c has conditioned us to think about dogs then the different strains of working "staffs" being under the same banner would make no sense given that a popular line has e.b.t influence going back in the pedigrees and the red strain apparently doesn't but as far as a lot of hunting lads are concerned, if it looks like a staff and acts like a staff.. then it is a staff. Eg. I had a working bred wheaten terrier (not k.c rubbish) in his ped there were 1 or2 e.b.t dogs way back. But for all intents and purposes he was a wheaten terrier

I get that, but didn't have this with pitbulls they also bred best to best I look at some now and are still dead ringers for the dogs I had 30 years ago.

apbt have some english bull in them. any dog going back to anything out of frisco sport. so if yor dog has champion dan in him, he's got ebt blood. but it's so small it hardly matters. dan was 1/4 ebt and sport was half edgecote blood.

as for blue pauls, they existed but red smuts were just a color, not a strain. the paul or poll was a separate strain of bull an terrier with different morphology. then there's the dudley terrier which was no different then the other dogs in the black country, except the majority around dudley either had liver or dudley noses.liver is more likely.

I beg to differ that I've kept dogs of ch neilson ,Patrick ,mayfield and more, and they carried no EBT show me one that slightly resembles EBT in a pure bred apbt

it has happened with pit dogs x with staffs I wish I could give you the name of (por) dog to back up my statement but his ped doesn't read that way and I'm not one to rattle people's cages. It is evident in some dogs bred tightly on this particular blood. Regardless if I was feeding a dog off this line I would still call it a pit bull terrier. Why ? Because they look like pits, they act like pits , they do what a pit dog does.

I went to a j brooks show in Liverpool joe graham judged in the early 90's a fella had a bitch I once owned my mate bred , when I told him I owned her and how she was bred it went badly wrong he said she was out of champion smuggler to some Limey bitch I told him this was untrue and gave him my number,he came over and I showed him photos of her as a pup up till about 14months the mum dad and siblings, she was still well bred,so your right as it does go on but why?

what they look is unimportant. the point is back in the 1910s and 1930s ebt was mixed in extensively. thank frisco sport and ch dan for that.

    Good read!!!
The fact theres a artist portrait of a blue paul documents at least on existed at on time...

I have read of different accounts in which travelers had fighting dogs in which they would fight with the locals as they traveled town to town...
USA history prevails that both the traveling culture and the mining culture had both bareknuckle fights and dogfights...
Men Like William Lightner traveled coast to coast and half way back doing so,,, others like the polish imigrant Walter Komsinski worked in the pennsylvania mines and never left his homstead,,, but fought and bartered dogs with the travelers that came and went...

A similar lifestyle of traveling and supplimenting income is where Stephen King based his Thinner novel on,,, which was later made into a movie with a gamedogs as stars,,, Cederbrooks Red Shredder1x had some good footage...

I live the gypsy and traveler stories and leaving a good hound out,,, I would say there should only be three types of dogs in the world...
    Terriers,,, Bulldogs,,, and Lurchers...

Do you mind If I ask If your from Romanian decent???
Any stories of these type dogs and anyother culture you might share is of great interest... Thanks...

Well we've been in the uk since the time of Henry the eighth from what I've researched. But since this thread I've been to see one of our oldest people and as it turned out a lot of our terriers have bull blood.just to add grit and fire, will try and find some photos if I can.anything else you would like to know just ask.

Staffords have been crossed into all matter of other breeds mainly greyhounds whippets and digging terriers some 1st crosses was to hard but done their job but this was or isn't just the travelling fraternity just people who liked working there dogs.

Beanie is behind many irish dogs, psycho line, now it seems she is half bulldog. Maybe alot of the irish dogs are not as much staff blood as fanciers state?
