Rural internet??

    Alright, we've bought a house in the country and we've begun the long road of lifestyle changes. One main one is looking to be the internet. We are so far in the boonies that we can't get DSL from any company. Our choices are looking to be satellite internet, wireless broadband or WISP (wireless internet service provider).

    I know there are folks here who have grew up in the same situation that I am now living, what do y'all do for internet? What are the pros and cons of them all? Any info would be seriously appreciated!

    The only net I have is on my phone. I have an old plan that is truely unlimited data although they do still slow it down sometimes. I don't stream movies or anything no big download but it works fine for me. The Hughes net dish net type stuff is high and limited download amounts in a month.

    Hopefully you can find a local wireless internet provider.We have one here that I have used in the past and it was 36 a month and unlimited data.If their isn't one that would be a nice buisness investment for someone capable.The one we have here actually pulls off the phone company sattelites so I know they are paying the phone company something.This is what helps rural places and allows them good service at a decent price.

    I'd look at WiFi options if u looking to save a buck or if u have unlimited data on your plan tether off of it. Might want to look into getting something better since you doing this long term.

    WiFi I wouldn't think would be any cheaper through a mobile phone company because it still.requires data..Your best connection will always be DSL or cable because its a consistent , more reliable connection.But when your in the boonies that's not possible.I talked to dish network and their price was 60 a month with only 2 gigs of data lol..No thanks.

    Bama is right, broadband is expensive AF and still has limits. I had to switch cell phones to AT&T because they are the only ones who have cell service where we live. Until then I was using TMobile and they had unlimited internet, but that is no longer a option.

    Bama told me about local satellite/WISP companies and I've checked into them a little and so far I believe the WISP companies are the only ones who don't have limits. Appreciate the info and hope to hear what others are doing.

    This was a very intelligent move by phone companies..A private company pays for the equipment and takes care of all the customers problems.So the phone company is collecting money for allowing them to pull of their sattelite..They are reaching customers that they couldn't reach through private sattelite internet providers.They don't even have to use their technicians.Just like free money.Something is better than nothing in this case.

    Get you a 4 whl drive ,V 8 and I prefer american..Build you a nice solid brush guard and bolt it to the frame..Save your shells.
