I need help with my puppy...

I have an almost 4 month old female pitbull puppy she lost her first tooth about a week ago, when I first got her I was unemployed and I started working about two weeks after I got her. So when I was at work she would stay with my boyfriend, mind you she was like 3-4 weeks old when we got her...the only reason she was gave to me at such a young age the mom went missing. We bottle fed her and everything, I began to notice about a month ago when I came home from work she would jump on me and bite me on my upper thighs when I would tell her no she'd growl and bite my feet. Then she started trying to bite me on my face when I was sitting down, she would get on my lap and growl then proceed to jump in my face. Now its an everyday struggle for me to get ready for work she follows me around my house growling and barking, biting at my feet. Im the only person she does this too. She plays really nice with other dogs, and other people but when I play with her it always ends with her growling and trying to bite me. She isn't like this when it's just me and her. I don't know what to do, it's stressful because I don't want her to act like that towards me. I've tried correcting her but everytime I try she growls and tries to bite me again.

 

I'd personally tell it "no" then grab it by the scruff and put it outside, should get the idea after a couple times. You definitely want to correct this behavior ASAP. You might also want to get some rope toys or something to redirect when playing but playtime stops immediately when that happens.

 

Definatly put the smack down! Better now then when she is 40 lbs.
Believe me she will cut it out asap if you are consitant.
If you reallycare for this dog get that behavior in check today.

..this one was def taken a-way from it's mother to soon,,no fault of yours...these type of dogs when away from the mother to soon can go on to develop-mental/phisical problems....but ya might be all-right if ya stern and put manners on it,.....now not later.....or get rid off it ,if no one has time to work with the dog........

 

I agree that grabbing by the scruff is key, followed by a firm command, then they need to be placed out of range. Dont worry about the fact u "rescued" the dog your the mom now! Dont give em your complex on the matter they live for today. Some pups can be very bitty especially with female hair. You have to establish your dominant role now or it wont stop. If they got all there shots take them outside for a good while (at least 30 min) then give em a Kong with peanut butter from the freezer in front of them while u get ready. Consider crate training inside the house if you already haven't.

 

Forgot to add dont ever use the crate as punishment its to get them out of range in their "den".

 

I agree with the above, my dog never growled or barked at me but he used to jump and mouth my hands. I've almost completely stopped the behavior though. Make sure your dog gets exercise, it'll help a lot.
