I kill a lot of deer and have trained my dog to track the deer. Whether I need to or not I always letem run it for practice he loves it cause he knows he gets plenty of good meat.

I have a buddy that does the same with one of his when he shoots a deer and he usually ends up right on the deer pretty impressive.

Never missed a deer yet he couldn't find. Might as well earn there food every way possible. Use to do it with leash now use shockcollar and turn him loose always at night and there ain't nobody else around gotta be safe.

Yea b/c i work at like 2:30 in morning. It can vary. always shoot then go back to house change out of hunting clothes sometimes I eat first cause my wife ussually has supper cooked at dark when i get out. Get dog and go get deer. Clean it take shower and go to bed never had to go back in morning. Kinda off topic but I bought weightpull harness plan on teaching him to drag deer out of woods for me lol. But serious. But its amazing to watch him work that primal part of his brain. its like he takes on a complete new state of mind like when they hit the hardground and they just click.

Just a bulldog who likes to find a dead deer is all I got deff not a specialized tracking dog. No bulldog is that good (not desighned for it.)

Im aiming to do some trail tests and to also do real blood tracking work, there is a 24h and a 40h trail tests

my female's mother already did hunting tests and also did bloodtracking, since a pup that my dog shows signs of tracking instinct, i plan to let her excel at something she likes.
Some dogs can work independently of breed.

Usually here dogs go track wounded game the day after the hunt

After the hunt, mainly the morning after, so tracks are usually at least a few hours old.

i know just a little about bloodtrtacking lol my dogs know the rest . but i use cold nose tracking dogs so i can track through anything and do tracks that are old and been rained on . that's the best track because blood is like oil water only makes it bigger .

Jack russell's are great dogs for tracking but my buddy has an old daushund (yes a wiener dog) lol but that is the best blood tracking dog i've ever seen. We jumped the last buck I shot this year with my compound, hit a little far back in the liver not lungs and I gave him 1.5 hours to bleed out but when I went looking for him, it started to sprinkle which wasn't bad but I lost the trail so I called him. He brought that dog which made me laugh because the collar for GPS was 3" from touching the ground. He let him go though and i quickly shut my mouth. That dog tracked that damn deer for almost a mile and when he found him in the thickest nastiest brush he sat on him and wait.

the dachshund are a good little dog but they are not the best but they are pocket size . the thing wish them you may have to go through more dogs than you want to get a consistent litters . read about the BMH's then you will see the king of trackers . rain just makes blooding easier always remember the dog knows .

OG, I've never had a dog specifically for tracking. My next dog for the house is either going to be a redbone, Black Lab or a GSP. I'm more looking for a dog to work birds, shed hunt and retrieve so the lab or GSP is on my list although the redbone could be a fun dog to have in december.
