im no expert when it comes to conditioning a dog, but i do ok, and in my experience my dogs have always seemed wiped the fuck out after hitting the water and swimming, so you cant tell me it doesnt work the hell out of em. and they seem to enjoy it alot more than hours of handwalking, thats for sure.

Maybe you have a problem comprehending my post. Did I say anything about an entire swim keep? Fact is I didn't.....swimming has it's place. You sure do sound like a cry baby when someone disagrees with one of your alter egos on here, Mike. It's an internet forum don't get your pony tail in a knot.

No she wasn't! I helped condition her when Hoppy (the breeder) had her. Tornado never was used in a swim keep! Did you ever see her or Butch or Stripper or Saloon go!
You don't know what the fuck you are talking about........

Oh BTW Ozzie never used a Swim Keep neither. If it is Bob's Virgil, Gambler had his own Treadmills.

Maybe you don't know what the hell you are talking about when it comes to Pit Dogs.
NO TOP DOGMEN EVER USE SWIMMING IN THEIR KEEP!
You sound like an idiot trying to tell people top conditioners use swimming.
Hell I have the Keep Barney Fife used on Gr. Ch. Buck/Gr. Ch. Sandman, no swimming was used in it! I have the Keep used on Gr. Ch. Art no swimming. I could go on and on.
It exposes people when they make a statement like this how little they know of conditioning.

I lived in Texas, Bobby Lemm, Don Mayfield and Maurice Carver never used a Swim Keep!
None of use did. I'm amazed people buy into all this. Yes swimming will tire a dog out and also over condition him.

    Mike,
    Where is this book available?

The Book is ready for publishing now.
It most likely be private published because most people will like to copy parts out of it for their use.
So it will need a spiral binding to lay out flat.
I understand Fat Bill will be the first to get one for free.
BTW his keep he sent free, didn't have swimming in it neither!

the fella who i learned to work a keep from had one make SDJ ( the real) doy & he used swimming as part of his program. he is from texas & built mills as well. to me it don't matter what guys in the 60's did because they ain't doing much of anything in 2012. times change & methods change but at the end of the day the only thing that matters is you come in on the money & bring the right dog. im more then happy with our methods & it's OK we won't ever be published in the book of keeps or ever in any stratton book. we will just keep on keep'n on with business as usual.

The main Millmaker was Bobby Lemm, even Maurice Carver stated this in SDJ.
Big Ticket made some mills, never heard him using it neither. Now if it wasn't 1 of these two, then he wasn't to well known for dogs or mills.
The other top mill maker was the late Millwright and him & Icepick never used swimming.

What do you think, the idea of swimming is something new? LMAO!
Any fool can tie a dog to the bumper of their car and run its nuts off, the trick is in the feed and recovery.
Knowing not to over condition and how to rest the dog and not get lactic acid build up.
This is what changes, this is where the cutting edge changes.

Out of curiosity, when Bobby Hall wrote his Bullyson and sons book he told a story about conditioning Eli jr and Bullyson both in the water on a 100ft lead with pockets full of dogfood to throw to the seagulls so they would dive down and the dog would try to catch them while swimming. I wouldn't know if this is true or not as I wasn't there, was Bobby just telling a bullshit story?

bingo you know who pickup us up at the huston air port. if it's good enough for him then it's good enough for me. " What do you think, the idea of swimming is something new" i'd hope it wasn't anything new & i hope more folks give it a try for themselves.

I have the book. I read it too. Like I wrote, it isn't new.
Bobby did this with Eli Jr. because his foot had been broken and couldn't use a mill or road work.
Maurice conditioned Bullyson on a turn table.
BTW the gulf water is so warm, I would surf Galveston Island east beach at Christmas!

I wouldnt use a swim keep as a main stay, a little swim in the first part of the pre-keep is fine, but too much you wast all the time you put into getting there feet tuff,
I found if you swim one alot it is hard to keep the pads on a dog tuff. But yall do as you wish it is yalls dogs. if you do use it rember to WALK that dog also.

BTW Ben Eli Jr. had a hard time with that Keep.
    Worst showing he ever had.
If you were on the OFRNR forum, you would see a picture of me standing next to the owner of Eli Jr.
BTW which airport? International or Hoby?
BTW did you kiss Janette hello when you got there? lol
