    anybody remember the doghouse plans that were made from 1 sheet of plywood and had a pictur of the pitbull in the display, with step by step instructions and a list of materials needed??? i seen iton peds a few years back but cannot find it now........anybody???

    It's been great. I've made acouple of changes to the setup ive moved all the house to the outside of the kennels so the dogs has a full 10x 10 kennel with a 4x4 wooden platform to lay on inside. It's been easy to maintain and keep clean.
    The above ground kennels are the best for housing pups whelping a litter keeping a female in heat safe and quarantining a sick pup or dog..

    Yup, above ground kennels are a must have imo for those reasons you listed. Nice looking setup partner, your dogs are well cared for, that's obvious.

    *****Disclaimer***** I am not a carpenter by trade!!

    Couldn't find any pics on this thread about houses built around a barrel. First house I've ever built so please excuse the poor workmanship! lol I do have a plywood lean on one side for shade as well (no trees in back yard). Also have handles screwed into barrel on top for easy removal/cleaning. IMAG0483.jpg IMAG0474.jpg IMAG0480.jpg IMAG0484.jpg Pics were right after I built it last year.

    1 question though....since the dog sleeps in barrel, should I worry about the wood being treated and being harmful to the dog? Thanks

    I wouldnt worry about it unless he starts eating it and swallows some..I used treated wood on my shade houses dogs chew it up some but never had any problems personally.

    looks nice! if i ever go the barrel route, i will also make a house arround it. less of an eye soar on people who think a dog house is something you buy at petsmart. good work!

    not exactly but close....... the one im thinking of displays the 1 sheet plans and has a list of materials included... liquid nails,aluminum lining & thompson water seal included...with a little buckskin dog inside the house...........thanks anyways though.......

    anybody got the heinzle plans??

    That was my thinking but the more I thought about it, the less I liked the fact it's treated. My next ones, I'm going untreated and stain the outside only. Thanks bana

    Much appreciated! mine isn't pretty but it sure works lol

    That's the chain I had the dog on, she was 5/6 months at the time I built it.
