Soft Mouth

Have a 6 month old bitch who appears to have a soft mouth. Lets go easily when playing witrh rope and rubber tugs. Anyone had experience of dogs who developed a hard bight later or is this a sign of things to come.

 

thats not a soft mouth. thats just a pup that doesnt want to play hard on a rope

 

Yeah its just a little early to say that she has a soft mouth, she may just not want to clamp down on the rope.

 

If her teeth and mouth are sound try changing the tug material or getting it farther away from your skin

Get her on some hides

 

she is teething

 

6 months is to early to determine how hard a bite shell have. Like said above introduce her to some cow hide, might just change your view of her!

hard bite comes from the back teeth with a full mouth grip........front teeth and canines bites tend to tear in holds and produce more bleeding in a hog. A good hard biter tends to stay in hold longer and punishs more without swapping

 

my pup is about 6 mo right now i know is teething (dont tug of war when there teething) and to get a dog to bite full mouth is not hard actually when ur playing with them after teething of course get her favorite toy and play with her every time she gives a soft bite where its easy to take from her snatch it it will let her understand that if she bites like that something or someone can take it away from her eventually she will get tired of u taking it and learn to hold on to it or risk loosing said toy did this with my little boy and it worked wonders

 

dogs have to want to bite hard thats my belief some dogs just love to chomp some dont
