Honestly who knows. Tom has had very good dogs on his yard through their life spans in the past and never listed them on his site. I'm also sure he would probably say he never heard of such a dog lol.

Tom doesn't have a magical beeper that sounds every time a dog he has bred makes champ, I doubt he has even heard of him. I spoke to Tom about a legit 4 xW not that far from him and he never heard of him. Most of these dogs that return to Bulldog Hill were dogs that were owned by people that Tom knows and knows well.

I believe that leads to a misconception. If there is one thing that is an absolute about Mr. Garner is that he knows, if nothing else he knows. If he sells dogs A and B to whomever, and they make it big, if one of those two fit into a slot into his breeding program then that dog is sought out and brought home. Most are made offers they would be half crazy to turn down. Now of dogs A and B if the B dog does not fit or he has an abundance of that strain he could give two shits.

It would be a mistake to think 'he does not know'.

The next mistake would be to think anyone is tight enough with him to get the skinny... straight up every time. Simply does not work that way. Ward Cleaver or Mr. Robinson do not have what it took to build bulldog hill. Tom does. It always amazes me that so many people are close enough to be in the know, but what they know is a little different than the next guy 'in the know'.

Whatever, I have known Tom many years and been to his yard more then a few times and spent many hours on the phone with him just chatting. You are free to think what you want, as I am...Tom is not a God and the dog I was talking about with him is pretty close to him. I would not be surprised to find his on Bulldog Hill in the next couple of years.

You are one of the more knowledgeable members here slim but I very much so disagree with you here.

I met Tom around '79 or 80. Been knowing him a long time as well. Back when he was acquiring the dogs that made the dogs that he is selling now. He went all over and spent above and beyond to lay the foundation of what he is doing today.
I know this sounds like a slight on Mr. Garner but it is the exact opposite. May even sound like a little hating as well. Far from the truth. Granted, I have not willfully drank the Kool-Aid either.

He has ran the dogs as a business for a ton of years now. I try really hard to refrain from using the word peddler, but it is a commercial, for profit, kennel. Love of the dogs, and preserving history, blah, blah, blah. He built a gold mine, reaped the benefits of that gold mine and continues to mine from that gold mine. And do not think for minute he has not got his hands dirty, back then and even today mining that precious ore.

I'm not the biggest fans of his dogs as I have not had the high percentage view some have, but I do understand when one will stay, it is a dog a guy could ride up and down the road with...anywhere. So when I see them I have much respect for them and the place in which they came.

You disagree that of the many dogs he has sold and bought a network has not been built, whether intentionally or not, that keeps him informed of the successes and failures of the dogs he puts out? This is the vital information that keeps the ball rolling. Or would one think he so conceited or convinced he just randomly picks dogs to breed and hopes for a positive result.

Trust me, he knows. Maybe not so much about what did not work but what actually worked, he gets that feedback. If the dogs involved are then needed on bulldog hill, they are brought home. And like I said before he does not mind spending stupid amounts of money to make that happen. Which is a great business attribute.

Or do you disagree that there are certain ones in the absolute know of everything bulldog hill?

No famous chef, or down home Grandma gives up the recipe when they are still cooking. Maybe so in the book from retirement, or to the daughter who has cooked along side her for XXXX years. But not to every Tom, Dick or harry who liked the chocolate pie. Just does not happen that way.

I have respect. I just come short of blind following.

Slim I agree with about 75% of what you are saying but to me just look at the math of it. Think how many litters Tom has on the ground in the run of a year, now we both know there are more then just a few that never get listed on his site. Take a moment and picture just how many pups that is. Now take away the ones he keeps as brood and ones that go to known men/camps and ones sent overseas. Now I doubt that number even accounts for half of those pups, so we still have a great number of pups going to anyone from petbull owners to fancier's to hopefull peddlers looking to make a few bucks of his name.....

Now I still think you are left with to large amount of pups that may just get into good solid dogmen who are lesser known in the broad spectrum of things but still reptuable dogman in their circles whos dogs make just be very succesful.

To think Tom or his ''networks'' can be aware of all of these is just ludacrise in my mind.

I did not mean Tom has a database of everything that has left bulldog hill, not my intent by any means.

When good things happen, he knows, and I am not meaning 'so and so' puppy looked good in a roll so let's keep an eye on him. I am talking on the other end of the spectrum. When his dogs make it big on multiple Saturday nights he knows. Does he have to hunt down the information? Nope. It is readily brought to him from the owner of said dog looking for another, or the next shopper who wants what just won on Saturday night.

If that dog is a needed piece on bulldog hill, that owner is made a really sweet offer. It may be cash, it may be prospects or a combination of both. That is his primary means of perpetuation. Using the winners so people can have access to a winner's puppy, access to the dog that made the dog, all in the hopes of having the same.

I did not mean he had tabs on everything sold and I do not think you meant he has absolutely no idea about the dogs once they leave. I do believe it is somewhere between the two. I just happen to believe it swings way over close to him knowing than the other way.

You make a valid argument Slim and I do agree to a certain degree but we will just agree to disagree on this one lol. Slim I also want to compliment you on the way you conduct yourself, you gave a perfect example of how to ''argue'' your point of view without bad language, threats lol or tearing the other person down. In the heat of the moment many times I fail at the same but when it is seen as you have done here, you may not get my agreement sir but you do get my respect.
