loads of dogs are kept on chains in Ireland
you just remove the soil and replace it with hardcore or concrete
provide a sheltered area and a kennel

my family have kept dogs on chains for 50+ years in Ireland

the chain does not need to be heavy, and a dog only lifts a small length of chain, from ground to neck height, never seen it cause drooped necks or arched backs

the black bitch looks fine to me. a well balanced bitch, good length of back , good lift, muzzle not to short and not bug eyed. she certainly isn"t fat but for a show dog she isn"t frog like.
i could not comment on her working abilities and neither can anyone else who don"t know her. given the chance to work you never know she may surprise.
for a show dog she doesn"t look bad to me.

I like the way you think activeirish and you talk complete sense, fair play to you.
I also think the black bitch looks good in good condition and well balanced.

12 guage I think u need to remind urself this is the staffords thread not pitbulls, that bitch is a crackin example and a far cry from current short legged barrel shaped dogs. But I suppose u can't please everyone and some people will find fault anywhere even when there are none. Please show me a better example of a current staff bitch and I'll retract what I say.

very nice lookers wally but on another note everyone has a preference on what they like or dont like there to look and be like when you post a dog u half to expect negative feed back otherwise keep it to yourself i would say as a old wise man once told me if you dont want negative feed back on your dogs or dogs you like them i would just keep it to yourself if u like them thats all that matters you feed what ever you want on your yard or household

Agree totally, That's why I put on the photos a couple of bitches that I like, no problem never have minded negative feed back, I've copped plenty for the last thirty years, we all have different likes. I don't mind if no one else likes them. I'm afraid I'm just one person who doesn't thinks that all present day staffords are muck. Anyone can say whatever they like, An old wise man once told me that a picture can say a thousand words. Cheers.

well said wallyy....i believe that they don't like what you like because they are jeolious of the fact that the pic of the bitches you like are what the original stafford was structured and built like to perform their duties. Your dogs are awesome mate and they are kidding themselves if they reckon their staff would out do yours..hahaha

Figured you wouldn't care too, prob too much hassle to find better. English bull dog? Why remind me of that when nobody other than urself has mentioned them?

Loads of dogs are kept on chains in scrap yards (junk yards) for those in the USA, anyone i know keeping dogs build pens/runs for them and allow the dog free movement in that area.
if you look at the chain around the neck of the dog in the pic i commented on you'll see it's a very heavy chain, you could moore a cruise liner with it and most photos you see of dogs chained with those heavy chains the majority of them look like they have the affect of bad posture, head down, back arched etc.
If you go to the effort of digging out soil, replacing it with hardcore or concrete and building a sheltered area and putting in a kennel, why would you chain the dog?
50+ years of chained dogs? i wouldn't be proud of that comment
