I think what some people are missing out on is the point that just because it was not in SDJ or AGDT it doesnt mean it aint happening. This is not relating directly to Colby by the way more a generalisation but you guys are pretty much tripping if you think that those two avenues are the only way ch or gr ch will be noticed by people, in those terms there are ch and gr ch on every continent in the planet just because you havent heard about it doesnt mean it doesnt exist. There is allways a possibility of everything, and chances are it happens wheather you know about it or not.

So, yes DeepSouth the Colby line is still very relevant and is flourishing very well with or without the many many skeptics. Get yaself one! or two!

Many times have people posted on this forum they were looking for a champion or grand champion to breed to and many peds are listed by the end of the post. Don't take my word for it look for yourself, I did.

Here's a honest way for someone wanting a stud service or puppy to form their own opinion and it's been done many times before already so twice more shouldn't make much difference I wouldn't think.

1. They could post asking for a champion Jeep/Redboy or Chinaman stud to breed to and wait a week and see what they have to pick from.

2. Then they could post the same post asking for a champion Colby stud to brred to and wait a week and see what they have to pick from.

That said we already know some dogs are underground but some aren't either so something if there should pop up even if just 1.

If there is a fairer way someone should mention it.

 

Razzle , you COULD do it either way but it wouldnt be there in a week. It is against site rules to solicite or sell pups, stud out dogs or look for studs on this site. Therfore it would be erased.

 

the only thing that confusing me about this thread is you individuals on here comparing linebred colby dogs from Mr Colby yard to the so called fastlane dogs. Now when I look at the ped of the so called fast lane dogs there is a whole lot of outcross in the ped, but when a colby outcross is brought into the equation you hear we are not talking about colby crosses.. So how are you gonna compare pure linebred colby dogs to the so called fastlane dog that's outcrossed and then have the nerves to throw percentages in the equation... If you are gonna base your facts on percebtages you can't leave colby crosses out.... JMO.

 

colby dogs dont compete......they did.......but the game has moved on.......unlike this thread, lol!

Best to best.......proven dogs......in the box.......not on a breeders wall, lol!

 

All I can say is... Do ur research on them "COLBY" hounds... U might b surprised with the outcome... LONG'S "ABBE" & he wasn't bred much @ all.......

 

OK men I don't post a lot,but I have read all the nonsense I can stand.Now every one knows Lou does not breed a bunch of litters a year.Maybe 10 a year if that{closer to 6 I would say}Now out of that 10 litters how many pups is born.Lets just say 100 pups a year.{now we all know that u don't average 10 pups a litter but we will use that number}.Out of that 100 how many go to pet and show home.I would say the number is high because they r also great at that and y'all will have to agreed because that is what you all say.So around 80 r 85 goes to these homes.Now that leaves only 15 to 20 dogs a year[compare that 2 the 1000's of dogs that r jeep redboy garner etc breed a year[don't leave no room for comparison now does it]that go to the real dog men and believe me real dog men do use Colby dogs{fat bill just sent a bitch to Lou a few months ago to be breed.}The ones that prove them selfs never go on the real hunts they r used for breeding only to produce dogs that r even better just like they have all through history{jeep redboy come to mind u have to agreed these dogs are Colby crosses}and u never know it because real dog men seldom let u know how their dogs r bred just like carver.At the present time I have a Colby\heinzl cross that is 1 of the best I have had and i am proud to own him.The best I have ever owned was a gr ch that any of u that was around in the late 80's knows about him I won't post his name but he was a rozmus McCoy breed dog that had a lot of the Colby blood running thought his veins.He won shows in miss.,tn.,ill.,and MIG.,and always open to any hog his weight no matter who owned it.He was a sdj front cover dog and consider by all that saw him to be one if not the best that ever lived.Now I don't claim to know everything about these dogs because I know I don't,but if u have any common since I think u will have to agreed with me on my post here.Now do u hear about a bunch of great hunting Colby dogs no because only a few ever end up in real dog mens hands as compared to the jeep,redboy,etc dogs.Do i think the Colby dogs r the best,well I won't say they r the best cause we all know u get good and bad in all lines even when u breed two curs u still sometimes get a good one,but I will say this if I only had one choice for a dog to use for breeding it would be a Colby because just like all through history they have been the foundation for dogs they were great hunters and even greater producers.I know all u will not agreed with me on what I posted so if you think u can prove me wrong I'm all ears.Thanks for listening.

 

@crushbones colbyblood is still wrkin to dis day there is nuttin u can say bad about it`s like da foundation of wat we have today the colby`s have put blood,sweat,&tears in to wat some so called dogmen say isnt wrkin today dont be a fool jus go to peds online an check out wat so many great dogs come down from like da old saying goes da proof is in da pudding.....!!!!!!!!:rolleyes:

 

Regarless of all the Negativity ..... If there are any experienced (Old timers) dogmen that know of real Pure Colby stock.... I want one. Maybe even 2 to tell the truth.... I need the rep of the person to be respectable.... not just a man or woman with dogs.... SOme who is atleast trying to preserve the line instead of detroying it. IF anyone can help I would really appreciate it. THANKS

I think Big Dan,has said all that really need to be said on this thread. Like I said before those who know and those who don't leave their ass in the dark.. Fact still remains over a 100yrs and still going strong and producing.

 

whoever said Colby dogs can't compete anymore is obviously not in the know.
