    :eek: ^ that dog's as useless as a tit on a bull. a few more generations, add wheels,
    and you got a dog to skateboard on. it would be a big hit on Venice boardwalk.
    now that would put all those skateboarding English bulldogs in their place.

    If I can only save one i'm saving the stranger, and by save i don't mean swimming out there so his panicy ass can drown me and save himself. i'll look for wood or something for him to grab onto/float on.

    don't have to save the dog. hes "drowning" not dead, doggy paddle that lazy ass out of the water.

    An Obituary printed in the London Times - Interesting and sadly rather true.

    Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

    - Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
    - Why the early bird gets the worm;
    - Life isn't always fair;
    - and maybe it was my fault.

    Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

    His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

    Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

    It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

    Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

    Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

    Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

    Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

    He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;

    I Know My Rights
    I Want It Now
    Someone Else Is To Blame
    I'm A Victim

    Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

    I've actually been in a situation where a dog fell in a swollen creek and couldn't get out. Her owner went to get her and I told him not to do it. He did it anyway and I had to drag him out while he was holding his bulldog by the collar.

    I was probably around 240lbs at the time and the dude was closer to 300lbs, his Clouse bitch was around 60lbs and the bank was covered in snow. All the while I'm thinking, "Fuck me. I'm going to die in the neighbourhood I grew up in. In a stream that's usually 2.5 feet deep that no one has ever drowned in previously because this guys dog decided to chase something that was up in a tree.

    I would never have gone in after a dog but I would go in to save a person. In my opinion if you really value dogs lives more than peoples lives I think you might be missing the boat on what humanity is all about.

    I mean why be worried that the person is going to be the next Hitler(highly unlikely) what about the next great philosopher or artist or doctor or a million other great things that humans can be that dogs don't even have the ability to aspire to?

    I'm seeing comments here about humans being ungrateful when saved. I mean are you kidding me? You're going to save someone's life based on gratitude? You're going to let someone die based on the fact that SOME people are ungrateful. I'm also in a position to say that would be a very small percentage.

    drz, it saddens me to see the responses on this thread. I despair that the "human race" has degenerated to this point. Oh well, I still have hope.

    I'm thinking that either all these negative responders need to start hanging out with a different group of people, or they need to stop reading the news altogether. It seems all people are now assumed to be the worst that our species has to offer.

    Believe you me, I have been through enough due to "other people" to have had my opinion skewed to the dark side. Yet, silly me, I still think that most people are worth saving, and I know many people who are working hard and raising children worthy of my hope.

    I pity those who have no hope. What a miserable life that must be...

    Even though I find myself feeling real misanthropic at times, I would still save the stranger!!! My dog, unless it was a pup, could fend for his or her self until the human being is safe. If I am dumb enough to put my pup in a position to drown, then that would be my own dumb-ass fault.
