    My wife like her Collt 380. She can go out to the range every now and then run through A box of target loads, and her hand aint sore! Then A clip of Hydra Shock will sure enough ward off evil spirits! She's had hers since the early 90's and wouldn't trade it for anything! That and A 38 Spc. would be what I'd recommend for A lady! It all boils down to what your comfortable with!

    My lady's favorite guns she's had so far was the Beretta PX4 9mm SC. Very low recoil (kick) and it was a small gun that was easy to conceal.

    Vicki, my suggestion is like AGK's. I would go to a gun range and rent their guns there and see which one you like after shooting it. The ranges around here let you switch guns with the same rental fee. $10/day rental fee lets you shoot all day long, one gun at a time until you're done or the day is over. So for $10 you could shoot 50 guns if you wanted. And then buy the one you liked the most. That's the best way to do it.

    The first gun I bought my better half was a snub nose .38. I thought it would be perfect but it had too much recoil for her so I got her the 9mm. Now I wish I would have took her to the range and let her rent ones until she found the one she wanted.

    I'm a Ruger guy myself, always loved them. And Hi Points aren't actually that bad, use a heavier load and they won't jam as much.

    I used to think they were complete junk until i seen this video. I still wouldn't keep one in my house for protection lol.

    If a firearm is meant for defending your life, do you want to deal with them "not jamming as much"? lol Not me. They're junk.


    I'll take something that'll shoot no matter how heavy the ammo is in it lol.

    Everyone always says the HiPoints are junk but I've had six different ones that have never jammed, you have to put some work into them though. You can't buy a HiPoint and it be reliable as you'd want straight out of the box, but you run a couple hundred rounds thru it and fine tune the mechanics they will be as reliable as any other.

    The biggest way to fix the jamming is just use a bigger load, i had a .40 one time, took it on trade for a fishing reel. took it out and it jammed a few times with the shells he gave with it, i can't remember exactly what they were but i threw in some of my own, they was a heavier load, the gun never jammed again. We tried to get it to jam, it didn't.

    Like i said though, no Hi Point is ever going to be my protection gun lol. No offense or anything, i think the Hi Points have their place and most people think thats in the garbage haha!

    Any gun is going to jam if not cared for properly, also as staffy stated the load has alot to do with it. On the lighter shells alot will spin while coming out of the chamber and catch on the slide instead of being pulled straight back and out. Lol I've got a few hi points laying around the house, I'd put one of them on someone's ass just as well as I would a ruger.

    hi point is a nice paper weight and you could always tie a rope to the trigger grab and use and a club. Bout the extent of its use. I own(and love) my Walthers ppq (gen1. Chambered in 40 cal) and my lcp. Those cheap guns are like cheap tattoos if you can't wait and need one now, OK I guess, but don't show it off or brag lol

    Lol I've never bought a HiPoint but I've had plenty and still have some. I don't carry any of the ones I have because their fucking huge!

    ive got a ruger sp101 5 shot that ive had for years i two mossbergs the maverick and a 500 and two hi points a 9 and a .40 both work fine but theyve been broken in and a 40 carbine the magazine is interchangable with the handgun. im very accurate with that carbine would have no problem using it in a combat situation. also had a keltec 9mm that was good. sold that one to a friend thou. you dont have to break the bank to get a decent gun just gotta break her in!!

    yeah they are huge that 40 scares the shit out of people that dont know its a hi point and yeah you could beat a mothfucker to death with one.

    And to be fair, I've never owned or shot a Hipoint. But I have had many people who have a good shot that they couldn't hit a person 3 feet in front of them with a Hipoint. Maybe a little sarcastic? Not sure. But probably not too far off lol.

    They just replaced the early 90s cheap throw aways. I do joke a little heavy about them too. If I was in a terrible situation and it was the only available way to protect myself I'd use it and pray it preformed as it should. That being said the more reliable and used to the weapon you are the better chances you stand. I personally carry the 40 and am more than confident with it but I also carry the lcp just in case...

    HAHA! The ones i had was never that accurate either. I like the older Rugers, P97 is my main squeeze.

    Most women i know carry or have 380's or 9's even though my fathers ex carries a revolver and loves it.

    Vicki look at the walther pk380! Very nice dependable firearm. Gr8 concealment size, easy to operate for ladies and easy on the pocket.
