Its time to stop telling the public that its ok to own an american pitbull terrier

its time to stop telling people that this dog is the all around dog

its time to stop telling people this dog is great with kids

its time to stop telling people that this dog just loves people and wouldnt hurt anyone

its time to be honest and truthfull about these dogs and what they are

    working dogs

and just like any working dog they have a purpose and it not to lay on the couch all day because an idle mind is the devils work shop

not to play with the kids in the yard cause its not that great with kids

not to run free in the yard cause it might kill the nextdoor neighbors dog or cat or neighbor

NOW YOU MAY SAY WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT FRANK

Im talking about telling people the truth from jump

this dog is not for those with lack of judgement or understanding of what is a bad situation is

I dont care if its a puppy I tell folks to be carefull I dont want you to get bite

your not gonna come to my house and my dog meets you at the gate no leash no collar nomatter how friendly the dog is it might be having a bad day and bite your ass

its time to be truthfull about these dogs and their capabilities and potential and educate people how to own and maintaine an APBT
in an manner to minimize the recurrance of accidents

even if you are going to sell your pups why not sell it at an age when it can be tied up plus a coller with a chain setup

and explain that the only time this dog is to be off this chain is to be put on a leash to be walked or worked not just run freely in the backyard 24/7

cause he can climb a fence or dig under a fence

dont let the dog follow you around(no leash) what if it runs and attacks someone or something then all you can say he never did that before

I have a few more things to add but Im gonna stop here

    any comments welcome

but I am game and comming back so mods dont edit replys it good food for thought

we dont agree on much but i will agree with you on this one.
people need to shut up about this breed period.
the apbt went from a novice dog to a dog your soon going to need
a license to own. its amazing how the image of one breed has
changed so dramatically in 50 years, this dog use to represent america

I totally agree BXPITS, it's amazing how this breeds image has changed in 50 years!!!

America's first war dog, Sgt. Stubby, served for 18 months and participated in seventeen battles on the Western Front. In February of 1918 he saved his regiment from surprise mustard gas attacks. This pit bull terrier dog was the most decorated war dog of World War I and the only dog to be promoted to sergeant through combat.

He also located and comforted wounded, carried messages under fire and even once caught a German spy by the seat of his pants after hearing a noise coming from a small patch of brush. He went to investigate and found a German spy. Stubby put his ears back and began to bark. The German began to run and Stubby took off after him, biting the soldier on his legs causing him to trip and fall. Then he attacked the soldier's arms and finally bit and held onto his rear end. By this time some of the Allied soldiers had come to see what all the noise was. When they saw that the dog had captured a spy they cheered. He became the first dog to be given rank in the U.S. Armed Forces.

    Funny how things change!;)

things changed because of the negitive and the positive

so many people want this dog because such-n-shuch's dog is so friendly

you can walk right up and take him

such is not the case for every dog

and each dog should be handled in a manner to keep your dog out of bad situations
and it starts with the truth

cause every dog has the potential to do great
but they also have the same potential to be the baddest dog on the block that
just happened to make breaking news all it takes is one mistake or bad judgement call
by the dog because hey they are not perfect

cause if we wanted to ban something that sheds the most human blood what would that be

i disagree wth some of that to say its not ok to have a pit wrong and paints a better picture for bsl like a say to any one who gets my dogs, i go through the basics over and over to make sure the know and can handle the extra work in having pits i dont even sell a pup with papers for the reason that i want them spayed and cut.i have had 3 litters and only sold five pups and i deliever my pups and i always check on them from time to time.one of my pups is now a civil servant going to old folk homes as a visitor and makes people very happy so much they cant wait for the next visit i gave my boss one and is in the office getting love from the customers, agree in we need to make sure people who get pits understand its not for everone and bear e responsabilty, like i tell my few customers im hear any time for help and will always take the dog back,i do this cause im not in it for money and feel us breeders have a obgliation to not put these dogs in wrong hand and bad situation. it seems like your wanting to make them look bad

  6. FrankDublin

    FrankDublin CH Dog

how am I making them look bad with the truth

it true that two dogs out the same litter in the same yard raised the same way
    will still be totaly different

one may be the friendliest dog there ever was but the other is aloof and to his self an may try to get a stranger

so why base the breed off of a few dogs cause nomatter how well bred they are some of them are not good examples of this breed
and if those animals(the bad examples) are put in the hands of a person that thinks this dog is the perfect dog its a bad situation from jump street

AND THE MOST BLOODTHIRSTY ANIMAL ON EARTH IS MAN KIND

not just about bulldogs but dogs in general. people are stupid. dogs are hardwired to learn our body language in there social structure. sounds easy but like i said people are stupid.

what are you meaning about telling the public thats its not ok to have a pit
/i agree with you totally that being a pit is not all fun and games and being a work dog but how is it not ok. everone here is the public you cant say its alright for you but not for this guy this is america and to say that could can be ammo against the pit bull.i just see it as this dogs arent for everyone.there sould be a class before you can own any dog thats capable serious damage,to put a that on a breed is bad, not all pits are bad dogs, in general dogs bite and attack and fight other dogs but the bigger more aggresive do it in a bad, wrose way.im talking rots german shepards and so on.like owning gun i dont cause i can easly get pissed a shoot someone so untill a cant fight with my fist i shouldent have them but i should and do have the right to own one as any stupid person who think shooting someone is cool speaking the truth yea we cant hide there bad traits to make them look better,im just questoning your firs stament no disrespect inteded im here to preserve the breed and to fight for the right to own any breed that people can be responsible owners of.( good topic)

the first statement is as an overall the pitbull community was a closed tight nit group with more people than you know but these people understood these dogs and knew how to deal with them
sometimes it wasnt easy to do the right thing and cull a good dog that carried the wrong traits but it was done 95% of the time
if you werent a part of this group you had no clue
so if you call yourself a true bulldog man then
heck deal with your own problems dont push them off on someone else
    for a few bucks
cause the general public will belive this cur manbiteing dog is the mode for the breed as a whole so if your not gonna be part of the solution please dont be part of the problem by selling to ignorant people
that wouldnt know the first thing about a pitbull except it a gatormouf

these are the people that are destroying this breed
buying a bad bred pup and starting a bad breeding program

and the cycle only gets worse

you said you have a litter of pups forsale right or are you planing to keep them all

  11. outrightmike

no ive had 3 breedings in 4 years only sold 5 pups and i know who they are and where they are i have 5 pups two weeks not 1 is for sell esp this breeding 2 going to partners and one im trading to out of town breeder for for a dog ill breed in about 2 years. i dont just sell to any one cause thats not why i breed when i sold mine to my pep i charge 100 only to help pay for the pups shots and wormer and so on youll never see me with an ad in the paper. im just saying eveyone thats responsible should have the right to own a pit.and yea they need the truth about the dogs nature. ive sold 2 that they never had a pit and i see them and there dogs every couple day in my hood for the last year and they are being responsible pit.owners i think telling them like you said +waching over them also.maybe im addicted to these dogs but im dedicated to them. i had the wrong im pression of the open statement thats why i asked i get real offensive when i hear any one comming down on pits and i know you werent.every thing you said i agree with, i pick who getting pups before i breed.even thow i want to i cant keep them all. id like to know from yall more expereced owners if im doing it right or not here to learn and perserve the breed thanks for starting the thread gots me thinking harder

    DON'T PEDDLE PUPS.................
fuck the general public, they don't need an apbt in their yard.
work'n dogs only. i only breed this that, only sold so many, and the excuses go on and on because these people know lol... FARK'N IGNORANCE.... when the last apbt is dead and burried they just might start to understand. sad, sad but true.
not directed at anyone, just those that deserved a surve...:(

I agree with you totally. They way I was taught and will always do it is that the dog needs to earn the right to be bred. Every litter i have ever had, each pup had someone already to take it. Usually i didn't have enough pups to get to everyone. The idea of breeding is to improve the breed. not a backwards or lateral movement.

The worse it gets the more people that should own these dogs get out and the ones that shouldn't own them get in and the toilet flushes on and on and on

Then you have the other problem. The bullies, the Ukc type, the backyard bred type, the Amstaff type. All of them are pitbulls in the publics eyes. And all people are pretty much the same. Doesn't matter to them is the temperment isn't sound, if they can make a buck breeding it, they will.
The general public doesn't know one type of pitbull from another. Most couldn't pick out a real pitbull on the pitbull chart thingy if their life depended on it.
But hiding the truth about these dogs isn't the thing to do either. Education is the key. I only own "petbulls" because I don't think I could handle a "game-dog". There is a difference is the dogs mentality. Not saying they aren't all smart, just wired different. And just like there are cold gamedogs, there are hot petbulls.
What people tend to get away from is that these are all animals. Period. Not kids in fur coats. Animals. And they can't reason. I never put my dog in a situation where he or she can decide to bite someone or act out in a bad manner. It is my responsibility as a good owner and friend to my dog to decide for him. And properly contain him, and care for him.

Why do you say that APBT's are not good with children? I disagree..

But I agree with you when people are trying to make the APBT seem like the next Lassie or Lab. And saying they wouldnt hurt a fly.

i think a dog can only do what a owner allows it to. There really aren't any bad dogs......only bad owners. Come on people, dogs can't reason, people can!
