Could someone give me a straight up answer about Watchdog

well you are VERY wrong bud. i got a friend i graduated with who breeds, raises, and has Ch'd several of her AKC dogs, and they are NO WHERE near the same breed. theyve been breed in a different direction for what, 70 years? how in the hell could you be serious? its not just in the looks, the dogs she has(about 20 of em) are all about as easy to handle as a poodle, with next to no DA. face it you have a pitbull, but you do not have an APBT

 

Ive seen some local Michigan blood with a toutch of Lewises Solo Flex in there that were gamebred animals. But there genetic makeup was pradominatly Old tried and true gamebred lines with only a toutch oldschool watchdog blood. I myself dont believe the original watchdog blood(Courtiers Blue Bully , Thor etc.....) was crossed with anything other than am Staff and remember the am staffs of back then were worlds apart from todays am staffs. But the more recent stuff is pure hot garbidge and most deffinatly mixed with other breeds other than the apbt/am. Staffs.

 

No one knows if they have anything else in them, if you weren't there to see it you don't know. For an educated guess look at the dog and decide for yourself. From the looks of most of the dogs I have seen I would say they are mixed with something. I am no expert on bullies, but the people that are don't even know what they are supposed to be.:confused:

If you were to take something like watchdog blood or some of this other bully bred blood and cross into it over a few breedings with a high end game blood would you ever get back to having an all out APBT?

why do you care if your dog is "gamebred"?? if your not matching it...its like having a corvette and never getting to drive it.

nobody is a felon until convicted...brush up on the law buddy. and BTW, i dont match my dogs, i hunt them. i just dont see the purpose in ruining all the fellas work done years ago, by making mutts now.

Not curious about if my dog is gamebred, just curious if he as american bulldog. i just fostered an ab for about 3 days, loved the ofe.

 

If your talking to me no I didn't post anything other than the one post, it has the question 2 times in my post because I quoted you and the topic is above what I quoted. I don't think watchdogs persea are junk..like i said I have a bitch that A LOT OF game bred dog owners after seeing her wanting to breed their stud to my bitch...But are they 100% apbt no...to me mix of amstaff and apbt is a mutt but in america still registered as APBT...
But don't generelize it either if you don't know..NOT ALL dogs are junk..you will have some junk in this line but you will get some great pet dogs as well...and really great dogs as far as sports event they do possess drive...

 

I was active in American Bulldogs quite a few years ago, and had run across Casey Couturier a number of times. I was familiar with his American Bulldogs, as well as a few of his APBT's.
I was at one of my first ADBA shows. As is usual, there were a few dogs that didn't fit in. One, a white male w/a few blue patches, look particularly not APBTlike. Busybody that I am, I asked the owner where he'd gotten the dog from. Watchdog, he replied.
What was most entertaining to me was that not only did the dog look like an American Bulldog, he looked like a specific line of American Bulldog, Margentina's Sgt Rock.
So, I've got no proof at all, besides my own personal observations. I also believe he crossed his APBT's into his bulldogs. I have legitimate reason to dislike and mistrust Couturier, so perhaps I'm biased.

 

okay I did some research on this because my boy is watchdog. From my understanding there is no bulldog in there but back in the lines there are some KNOWN Ammstaff lines I know that it shows up on my ped and it even notates what specific dogs are Amstaff. my understanding also was that back when watchdog was a gameline they were bred for hog hunting and were really good hog dogs

Now my boy is 60 pounds conditioned weight and I accept that fact that he is not a gamebred dog. He is a my bully boy. I do know that my boy will fire up over ANYTHING that is not a female dog. I think that watchdog line used to be some great dogs and then just got fucked up by dumb ass idiots who wanted to make them fucking bigger and shit.

hey X, for the most accurate info on the OLD watchdog blood you should just contact Casey directly.

he no longer breeds apbt, at least since i last spoke to, but he is a Very knowlegable dog man, if im not mistakin he still has the copyright to some of the old vintage apbt books that he used to reprint and sell, he into bulldogs now (american) and is running a registry for those dogs so you can look him up, try a search for the american bulldogs association or american bulldogs registries for his contact./

i have been interested in the old kingfish crosses for a long time now and when i first started missing around with that line i did some research on the old watch dog blood..

casey had a Good family of dogs going when he was breeding apbt and took a scientific approah to his bredings. and yes the line did have akc staff blood bllood but as far as him crossing am bulldog blood in i find that hard to belive simply because of the integrity of the man.

when he was breeding apbt he had certain goals and gamesness was just one of many prerequisite (along with health good temperment etc.) in order to achieve to totall dog not just a trait or one dimesional breeding sticking to one certain family and what not..

he can tell you more about the dogs that he bred up more than me for sure and hes not hard to talk to just look him up. but his ideal have not been carried on not by a long shot by the dogs being called watchdog
today and the last time i spoke with him in my quest for a outside stud for crossing i was inform straight up that all the good dogs were gone or crossed to some other stuff..
