Could someone give me a straight up answer about Watchdog

SO, i've been looking into a rumor that at one point the watchdog apbts were mixed with the watchdog american bulldogs. I also hear people talking about the old school watchdog being apbt and new being bullies.
I also read a lot of times that the new school watchdog they're talking about are chaos and hughzees..who are just based off watchdog. My dog isn't blue, he was 65 lbs last time on the vet scale at 13 months. his watchdog ancestors are beezlebub, moon shadow, big thor, and zulu. I haven't got his ped in yet, only his reg. papers. i've loked through his littermate's 7 gen ped though. I can't remember who all is after the watchdogs on his dam's side. His sire's sire is beezlebub. Any help would be great, i'll get better ped info up once i get it. thanks


when you guys say bullies do you mean mixed-bred or just bred for size?? With how over done bullies are today, i only consider them american bullies if they are mixed, from mixed lines, etc.

 

I don't mean to offend so plz don't take what I'm about to say the wrong way, I can rub ppl the wrong way sometimes.

But this is my 2cents, ANY DOG that is NOT bred to the Historical standard is NOT an American Bull Terrier, nor an American Game Dog (which IMO should be one in the same that go hand and hand) and is nothing that I want for myself to be possession of.

Like a 'coonhound' that wasn't bred to hunt coon and thus can't therefore he is useless and is only a coonhound because of his distant ancestors being he himself is a far fetched mirrored and foggy image of his Great fore fathers, and in the mind of the 'purists' he IS NOT a coonhound but a mere Dog, with fancy papers that render him useless but to prance around a show ring to be judged by a mans subjected opinion rather than doing a job and succeeding at that job.

I know R. Hughes pretty well, you don't have an American Pit Bull Terrier that is for sure! I like the guy and his dogs but they are not APBTS

Alot of ppl call Razors Edge, Gottyline, Greyline The main stains as far as BULLIES go but I've also heard ppl say WATCHDOG n CHAOS, are lesser known strains of bully blood but still bully. Makes sense tho. It's why I'm clearing my yard of 4 Watchdog bred dogs.

 

So hughes says beezlebub is mixed? I'm not sure i have any of the hughzee dogs. Thanks guys, i'm not offended. My dog has gotten into some pretty nast fights with bulls, so he's got the apbt spirit, imo.

 

watchdogs from what I know were more hunting apbt dogs they were a lil bit bigger bred to have big bites(bigger heads really)... from dogs i have seen inbred to watchdog seem to lack angulations but still keep great drive gameness i would say as well..top weight pullers have watchdog breeding methods in their pedigrees...

I have a dog kali she has watchdog in her pedigree not heavy but they did use some watchdog in their breeding method as far as kali goes...she does not lack drive...she is small bitch she is weighting right now not conditioned 49 lbs...but you usually see bitches who are heavy bred watchdog around 65 lbs the lightest... so biggger dogs temperaments are great they are mellow but have great drive when you need them to work if you show in agility weight pull so on... if you are looking for straight game then watchdog is not straight game...

 

watchdogs are cool if you have a junkyard or car lot but in my neck of da woods its alot of kids dont want anyone to go getting bit by a 125 german plus i dont think my dogs would like him to much with him runnin round like he owns the place. But if i did want a good watchdog i would probably look for a good shepard of some sort

 

Watchdog blood in it's beginnings was a lot like TNT blood. 1/2 amstaff, 1/2 game-dogs. They pretty much used Ruffian (amstaff) and Clyde Mason's blood (gamedogs). A lot of bullies have Watchdog in there peds because of the lines tendency to throw catch weight blue dogs. Not sure what else to say about that. :confused:

 

mr. futuristic, watchdog is a bloodline, i'm not talking about using apbts as watchdogs.

true pits, my boy certainly has a head on him and does not lack drive at all lol, so he fits that description pretty well! thanks for all the replies guys.

 

I've seen a few dogs bred down from Watchdog bloodlines and they were all junk!

You said "give me a straight up answer", so thats what you got! I'm not gonna sugarcoat anything for you. The ones I saw were junk!! I know a few backyarders thaty were trying to say they had some so-called badasses carrying that blood but when it all came down to they were pure trash!

But i have yet to hear it from some one who know for sure on whether they are mixed or not. If he has american bulldog in him it's fine with me.

 

why does it matter if its am bulldog, or am staff? a halfbreed is a halfbreed all the same.

 

I don't think the people who own them dogs even know what ALL in their pedigree but they sure aren't 100% APBT's!

 

Well, i guess because i don't consider amstaffs another breed. if a ukc champ can be conditioned to be adba champ, and is possibly game, it's an apbt, so i think the same about a dog registered with the akc.
