Ive had no experience with that surgery but your doing the right thing nuetering him.. I want to have my male nuetered but i cant get over the fact he wont have a sack! I wish there was a way to nueter a male but he can still have his boys between the legs. :(

Hey Advocate, they actually make a product called 'Neuticals' and they are basically testicular implants for dogs. They have all different types and styles, as well as price ranges. I have known people that have wanted to get their dogs neutered but didn't want them to have the 'empty wallet' look after the surgery, so they had neuticals put in. LOL. It's kinda funny and just saying the word makes me giggle, but it's definitely an option if you don't mind spending some extra dough to purchase the neuticals...
    Just a thought.

And Impact, I wish you the best with your dog's recovery! I have only really seen English Bulldogs and SharPei breeds have to get the Entropion surgery. I haven't ever had to deal with it personally with any of my own dogs, so I don't really have first-hand experience. If he is an acitve boy, be sure to keep him quiet for the first several days after his surgery! I have seen people take their hyperactive dogs home after they get neutered and come back a couple of days later with the dogs sac swollen the size of baseballs or even larger. And when I ask them if they have been keeping the dog from running around and jumping, etc... they tell me, "well, it's just so hard to keep him from being active". So my advice to you would be to keep him crated for the first several days after his surgery. It will save you an extra trip back to the vet for a swollen sac! LOL.

Some of those neuticals are REALLY expensive! LOL. I have a funny story for you all about neuticals.

A vet that I used to work for (Dr. Gates) once told me about a gentleman that brought his English Bulldog in to get neutered, but he didn't want the dog to have that 'empty wallet' look after the surgery so he opted to buy a set of neuticals to be put in after the dogs neuter surgery. The guy was one of those real 'macho type' guys and I guess wouldn't feel so macho if his English Bulldog didn't have his balls. Well after the guy found out how expensive the neuticals were, he decided to go with the cheapest ones they had. So, Dr. Gates performed the neuter surgery and then put the neuticals in. I guess the cheap neuticals aren't that great and when they hit each other, they make a clacking sound. LOL. So now everytime this guy's English Bulldog walks around, his balls go... clack, clack, clack. Hahahahahaha. :D

My dog had both eyes done and he was in a collar for 10 days.
That was a nightmare. I hate the lampshade thingy. His eyes were fine from then on.
As far as neutering him he won't even know because of the eye surgery.
They give them some good drugs with the eye surgery so you will be able to keep him pretty much knocked out at night.
    Good luck!!

Isnt that eye disorder Entropia whatever a genetic defect? My bro purchased an R.E. dog that had that. He thought the pup had a blinking problem and he picked the only one in the litter with these "cute" blinking eyes. After finding out what the problem was we had to go get his money back and returned the pup.

Did he have a testicle that was undescended or something? Why does he have that huge incision on his abdomen???

I heard of a guy that had a basset hound male , he got the "implants" and i guess they were to heavy cause his bag was draggin on the ground, they had to get smaller ones put in!!!!!:o

NeuticlesOriginals are crafted from FDA medically approved polypropylene homopolymere which is non-porus and rigid in firmness. NeuticlesNatural are solid silicone - not gel filled or saline filled but a solid rubber-like material that replicates the pet's testicle in firmness once implanted. Neuticles UltraPLUS is the latest in solid silicone technology and feels almost like its' liquid filled- but is still solid silicone. In addition, the UltraPLUS features a special 'etching' on the exterior which retards the risk of scar tissue development.

That last line is a plus. ;)
