That .22 ain't big enough for a real bulldog. If you don't hit just right the first time you'll be havin a hard time everytime after that cause it ain't sittin still.

What if the dog already made history? Put yourself in that position. I find it hard to believe someone would put one down if an instance occured that was not too serious and didn't continue if he was about to go out for his fifth hunt. Most would keep it to themself and go on a little more cautiously and hope for the best.

Zebos son ch diamond Jim ran past chained out dogs to get to me and cowboy bob . The only thing that saved one of us from taking an ass chewing was ch gideon that big old catch-weight dog . Dont get me wrong jim was one hell of good dog and game beat 4 good dogs owned by some of the top dogmen But I would not have fed him . Had two sons and four bitches from him they were all even tempered dogs all were double zebo / double turtle buster with a single out of honeybunch .

So you wouldn't feed him but you would breed him? No trying to be disrespectful at all, I just don't understand. If he doesn't deserve to live he certainly shouldn't be bred so as not to pass on the traits which he inherited. Also, he won 4!!!!!! Someone must have been capable of handling him so he couldn't have been all bad. Maybe he just didn't like you. Thanks for the input, good story. What happened between him and the catch weight?

He was not my dog The dogs from him were given to me by Mr john fitch . He feeds his dogs he gets to breed what he wants .

But still, you wanted offspring from a man biting dog. And so did a lot of people and I can see why, but isn't it a paradox to not say they should be put down and then take a chance on some of the offspring. The traits were obviously passed to him. He could have passed them as well. I'm only trying to learn why it's ok to breed a dog or even recieve offspring from a dog who doesn't deserve to be fed.

Had a half sister to ch diamond Jim from the zebo/honeybunch breeding was nothing like her daddy zebo or jim . Every time you breed a game dog its a chance game or cur Its all a chance . There are things we can do to tilt the chance in our favor like breeding game dogs to game dogs . Other than that its all chance

just to much of a risk for me, the what if go threw my head. I got a 6 yr old and a 7 month old live to close to neighbors. If I lived in the country it would be a different story. Just gotta be prepared and know how to handle em. I got a small back yard and I dont wann tell my boy they cant go out back the back is only 50 x 100 not fair to the dog or the kids even though I got 4 wired welded kennels just me.

I had a nine month bitch nip me and I let it go because I blamed myself for being too agressive with a skitish dog. Then she came at my wife for no reason at feeding time. Normally that would have been curtains but the breeder was man enough to replace her. I had a lot in this one after the shipping costs and all so I let her live but I doubt if he did. I wouldn't feed a dog that would bite me or mine but like in your friends case, he was able to manage the dog and successfully campaign him and breed him with a large amount of success. So in my opinion, not all dogs who will bite a man should automatically be put down.

And I can think of one instance where if my dog would have bit a certain person in a specific situation, I'd a bought him a t-bone steak. :)

  16. i've owned over 300 bulldogs in the last 35 years and only ever bit me or turned on me. that dog was an inbred dog from game lineage. he was a the one who didn't turn out. he was out of some old ed crenshaw breedings here in new mexico. the dog had it all together except that one time. i kept him isolated from my 5 kids and learned by his behavior that a full bowl of food kept him happy. unfortunately he was not a perfomance dog and was not given the chance to breed. i chose to not include him in my kennel after about 2 years of senseless feeding and shipped him off to a man in texas who had more patience than sense.
our dogs don't bite people without reason, sometimes their heads are immature and they reacte out of excitement, some dogs are just mature and i call old soul dogs, these are the ones who become of the likes of going light barney [ i saw him perform], or some of the great oldtimers. those dogs had a mission and they knew it, the took on the task and never complained. they imfatically loved their owners and showed it.

a biting dog is really no good. they will eventually be exposed for what they are and in my humble opinion be treated with great care because they can cause a great deal of harm to people.

  17. REALLY no matter how you look at it a manbiting dog is dangerous...who cares if the dog was or is a winner..is it worth it if your child or grandchild got killed or disfigured..no matter how you confine or seperate a manbiter ..ACCIDENTS CAN HAPPEN... DID ANYONE FIGUERE OUT WHAT DOG I WAS TALKING ABOUT EARLIER IN THIS THREAD???THE ONE WHO WAS WALKED TO THE BOX WITH 4 OR FIVE LEASHES AND HANDLERS AND HAVING TO PUT UP A FENCE AROUND THE BOX TO PROTECT THE SPECTATORS?????
