lots of breeders have a diferent opinion about use or not suplements that have sugar in the dogs keep so I like to know the folks opinion about that it's good or bad?

NO! Well IMHO anyway. I say no cause sugar will give the dog a temporary boost, resulting in a crash shortly after. Ever heard of kids getting a sugar rush? Well, same thing.

    (From the B.F. keep)

NEVER feed simple sugars like candying, syrup or simulating products, they will cause the dog to fight hard for 10-20 minutes because of the high blood sugar level. After this time the sugar will be broken down causing the dog to lose his strength and energy. This is called a sugar high and sugars crash. STP's CH. Bonnie lost her 5th match into "Smiley and me" because of this mistake.

caos, your asking about when there is sugar in a supplement like creatine, not pure sugar right?

How about after a workout? I use simple sugars to help spike insulin which is probably the most anabolic substance there is.

I'm not sure how much dogs are like humans but if your dog was on a supp like RF-1 that has protein and creatine in it then giving the dog a simple sugar after a workout would be beneficial because the insulin spike will force the nutrients into the muscle. Yet again that is assuming dogs are like humans. Otherwise I think the sugar is not beneficial and may hinder the animal when it comes down off the initial energy increase.

This is what I'm wondering about. If sugar spikes their insulin like it does for us, I can see it being beneficial in a post-workout concoction.

I've heard Creatine can cause stomach problems with long term use.

WWII you hit the nail on the head on why to use sugar and the effects. A canine's body functions almost identically as the human body.

    Thanks for clearing that up.

Do you know a good dosage for a dog?

I like to use a teaspoon of creatine and sugar blended with 25 grams of whey protein immediately after workouts.

Just something I think would help some!

    Carbohydrates
Energy Yield and Food Content. Carbohydrates (sugar and starches) yield 3.5 Kcal ME gam,
and, on average, contibute 40 to 45 percent of the energy in traditional racing diet. Meat
is low in cabohydrates, contributing only 4 to 5 percent of the total cabohydrate intake
from the traditional 70 percent meat-by-weight diets. Dry foods contribute varying
amounts of carbohydrates, mainly from cereal grains, ranging from 35 to 40 percent
carbohydrates in dry foods containing 27 to 30 percent crude protein and 15 percent
crude fat, to 55 percent carbohydrates in lower protein(13 percent crude protein,
2 to 3 percent crude fat), dry foods, or kibbles. Other foods, such as vegetables, provide
additional carbohydrates, with human breakfast cereals containing up to 70 percent, bran 53
percent, rice 30 percent, pasta 25 percent and potatoes 20 percent.

Sugar kills cells in the human body, if you read about what it really does you probably wont eat it anymore yourself never mind giving it to your dog. Just ask all the diabetics in North America about the stuff, its a drug not a nutrient that the FDA pawns it off to be, I would keep it away from your dog.
