These are beautiful dogs. Can you condition the American sbt's (which are usually pretty fat) to look like these dogs, or is it not possible due to the genetics of the American dogs?

You should stick with your nice blue staffies A frames and Piczo web site...that pic on your site of all those Staff's together up the gate with a spaniel just about sums you up...how we laughed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Duke was such a rarity, a fighting miracle so to speak. As good as he was he should never have been bred to fighting stock because he didn't have the breeding, he was a freak of nature.

There has never been another Staffie that has matched his pit prowess yet. Duke was also an excelent producer and is found in the pedigrees of quite a few APBT and STB in the UK and Ireland (pit dogs only). He was not an Old Tyme or an Irish he was show stock! Good dogs are where you find them, not in a name. I call all this family bulldawgs and get sick of all the labels:( Beauty is what beauty does.

"Duke" was a good SBT , but not a freak of nature, , all SBTs trace back to show dogs ,,,"Duke" was mostly from Dublin red strain ,,, and has had as much fighting stock in him as any SBT of his time,,,

Are you 110% certain that Duke is from pure show stock and never had any APBT in him??

Why would you use him for breeding to pure APBT's if he was a show dog no matter how good he was?

Because people breed dogs for performance, and somebody may have seen him go and said to themselves I wouldn't mind breeding to that....

Quick question... So if you had a game Bulldog bitch with good breeding behind her and you saw a show dog Staff that was hell on wheels would you breed them knowing the Staff has nothing but show dogs in its pedigree?

Was there a brindle Staff called Brock that made champion back in the day? What was the breeding on him?

If he was better than the dogs I had access to yes I would give it a go. You asked why someone would do it, I'm offering theories as to why, not necessarily my personal opinion or the path I would follow. If we are to follow the logic of you shouldn't breed to the staff that's hell on wheels because he has show dogs behind him...... Well then what say you about the pure APBT that has show dogs, and cold dogs in the ped, none of them ever produced anything worth mentioning either huh?

Make your mind up, on the scatter bred topic you stated that you wouldn't dream of doing such because the odds of reproducing the ace would be astronomical, your words. Truth is breeding isn't black and white because has Dusty Road mentioned, Duke did produce. If breeding was so straight forward and clear then everybody would have top dogs.

Obviously you can't read or you would have noticed where I said I'm offering you theories as to why one would, but they are not my personal beliefs. Secondly something coming off show dogs and something being scatterbred is different.

So you wouldn't have bred to Grand Champion Duke?? Yeah you're right, I'd go for a scatterbred dog rather than a show dog everyday of the week, but facts are this show dog produced, what's your view on that?

To me breeding a Stafford and a pit is breeding 2 different strains of the same dog

    billbulldog Big Dog

Somepeople say a Stafford and a pit are not the same breed of course they are if no other breed was added to either breed it's just breeding that's made them look different as in show and performance it's only show people who named it Staffordshire bull terrier to get it into the kc bullshit

That's like saying the Italian Greyhound should be the same breed has the Greyhound.....

Pit bull and staffords are the same breed its just kc breeders handicapped them but not all there's still old style stuff out there and there good Europe has the best staffords in the world and that's a fact
