Right. Should've said hardly instead of never. James tony was a washed up boxer at that point

Let me ask you something what do you think would happen between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather with mma rules or even kickboxing? And Floyd’s footwork is beyond incredible

Your best argument I think is Shannon Briggs has a win in K1 under kickboxing rules, but that’s the only example I can think of.

Good trainers teach boxers how to slip parry and side step.

I think Conor would beat him but theres a chance floyd could catch him with some shots before he has a chance to take him down. And we know Conor cant take many punches from Floyd. But yea I'd expect Conor to win

There are not a lot of examples of high-level boxers in mixed martial arts but a couple of world champion kickboxers and they had problems in their mma careers. Saki and Schilling I think are the best two examples. Malipet Sasipapra fought in elete XC with Little to no grappling experience he didn’t even really train MMA, it didn’t go too well for him against mediocre competition and he’s a legendary thai boxer who did this near his prime. You see it more with kickboxers because there’s no money so they to go for money in MMA. What are examples of the opposite?

    I'll say it like this.
A skilled boxer has a chance to win in the octagon even if the chance is small.
I would say a kickboxer would be more at a disadvantage because relying so heavily on kicking means 1 leg will usually be off the ground more often and this makes them more vulnerable to a take down. Boxers have good balance and understanding of leverage standing up. That combined with good footwork means they'd be slightly more capable of defending against takedowns

Kickboxers more disadvantage? Cro Cop? Israel Adesanya? Wonderboy Thompson? Darren Till? Where are the boxers in the mma elit??? You people neglect the distance perspective... Boxers are used into boxing distance. That close and with that wide stance, your legs are exposed to leg kicks and single leg takedowns any second in the match!

You also forget. Artem Lobov won Paulie in a bare knuckle matck cause Paulie didn't have that pillow gloves to defend himself as he knew....

I agree with the stance being vulnerable to leg kicks. But most stances are.
And range is important to all fighter's not just boxers. Kick boxers also need to know their range.

I think yall think I'm saying a boxer could dominate in the octagon and I'm not.
All I'm saying is the boxer has a shot whereas mm artist has almost 0 chance in the ring

The fact that some fights end without even having a takedown being attempted tells me in those situations the person with the higher striking ability would have the advantage.

Boxing distance is dangerous. Not kickboxing's or thai... Conor proved against the best defender of all time that an MMAer has more chances and the thing you don't even know names, proves my point you don't know what you're saying and this whole thing has no point...

You do know what avid means right. And you right you shouldn't argue cause you just talking. Like I said theres real combatants in this world that know I dont talk out my ass. Who can vouch for you.
You sound like the second MMA fighter I described.
If you haven't actually fought and competed you def shouldn't be arguing.
I dont care how little MMA I watch it doesn't discount a single point I've made

I didn’t take it in a negative way at all I’m definitely not participating in this conversation to be a dick or negative. I disagree with the premise that a boxer would be able to avoid a takedown with boxing in an mma fight and that a boxer is more likely to be successful in mma with less weapons than a kickboxer. I love boxing too, this is not a slander on boxing, Even though it has not been the focus of my martial arts career I’ve spent time boxing income from the gym it also has amateur boxers. I have competed in Thai boxing exclusively but I also have 10 years of Brazilian jujitsu am purple belt but I’ve been out of jujitsu for 2 1/2 years because of a few injuries. Looking to get back into it as soon as Life returns to normalcy and I never stopped training Muay Thai even with injuries But did stop competing a long time ago I think 2008.
