I have a question about that law in PA....what if you just fenced the whole (or part) of the property with a 6' privacy fence and kept the dogs on their chain spots? Or is that still a violation of the law? Do they actually all need to be in separate runs? Also, would that be financially practical? I have no idea what fencing costs. That was something my husband handled. I'm new to pricing all that kind of raw material type stuff. Now a kitchen table or couch, I'm pretty good pricing that stuff out!

 

I converted this past weekend. Just need to finish 2 more 5x15 runs and it will be finished except for cosmetics ill finish after the winter here is over. I'm about to punch in to work so I will respond with pictures when I get home a little later. In short though, my yard is privacy fenced. They also had 6' shade covered chain link around my dog area of my yard. The law I will post in full later but there is no chaining period. Specifically says no tow or logging chains can be used.

 

I even was special enough to get a letter along with a copy of the law in its entirety along with highlighted parts AC around here felt applied to me. Basically, I'm debating contacting my lawyer to send a cease and desist letter as it is clearly harassment, no one else I know in pa received such a letter. I've been targeted by the humane society since 2001. This isn't the first time they have harassed me either. Happens at least once a year. Sometimes more. Gets old.

OMG AGK, that is awful! I had no idea you were being targeted. God, that sucks. AC just doesn't get it. HSUS is another story. I got so frustrated with them, I though to myself one day, you know what, I'm going to try to change it from the inside, and I became a volunteer. I finally was able to get the staff on board with the potential for DA, and myths perpetuated, but volunteer turnover is so high, you always hear some idiot volunteer spout off about something that is totally back assward. And, it's a drop in the bucket compared to the epidemic of fur moms in those orgs worldwide.
If I were you, after hearing this has happened since 01, with obviously no evidence of no abuse, neglect, whatever they try to throw at you to get stick, I'd be seeking some legal protection too.
Damn. I go could on, but I don't want to elevate everyone's BP too bad. LOL Just, what does it matter if your dogs are chained inside a privacy fence? As long as they can't "escape" and "get to the public" bc of said privacy fence, who cares? What is the point behind the law?
I'd love someone from AC in PA to chime in. LOL

 

The law was created because some douche bag left his dog Libra out to the point of starvation and neglect, dog looked awful and of course was on every front page in Pa. So they called it the Libre''s Law. Animal control and the humane society are 1 in the same here. They work together to bust people's balls. Thus is the acual law: ( the part that pertains to me anyway):


Tethering:

The legislation also places reasonable limitations on the continuous tethering of dogs outside including the following:

1. Bans tethering a dog outside without providing for its basic needs as defined under Section 5532.
2. Creates a presumption that the dog has been neglected as defined in section 5532 if the following are present
   1. The dog is tethered for more than 9 hours within a 24 hour period.
   2. The tether is not secured to a well-fitting collar with a swivel and by a tether of less than 10 feet or three times the length of the dog whichever is longer.
   3. The dog does not have access to water and an area of shade.
   4. The dog is tethered for longer than 30 minutes when the temperature is over 90 degrees or under 32 degrees.
   5. Excessive waste in the tethered area.
   6. Open sores or wounds on the dog’s body.
   7. The use of a tow or log chain or choke, pinch, prong, or chain collar

 

I looked up Libre's Law and saw pics of that dog. Abhorrent. Douche bag is appropriate for sure. I'm sorry that idiot messed it up for everyone. Sucks that HSUS has so much pull on the AC, out here it's different. AC and HSUS don't get along.

 

Our humane society and HSUS are not the same. I don't believe there is any affiliation.

 

I decided to not post any pictures of my yard. It seems to me to be a better chess move for me to just keep them guessing as to what is here and how they are confined etc. I thought about it after I wrote that I'd post pictures. They are on this site for 100% sure. They used many posts here against Wardog in court. It was a blessing in disquise that photobucket started to charge for their services as it broke all the links I've pretty much ever posted on here except for the ones i directly upload to the site. I will send you some in the PM slim when I get home from work a little later. We aren't finished yet but it's getting close. With winter fast approaching, I don't think I will get it finished fully until spring time. It's functional currently though for all but 2 dogs. Waiting on 2 last doors to complete the set up. Cosmetics I'll do in the spring.

Thanks. They will look pleasing to the eye when everything is said and done. I'm that way normally anyway because of my own OCD but these days, I have to be even more on that level of thinking since some folks got nothing better to do then try and cause problems needlessly rather than get a real job.

OMG send me Pumpkin and Sasha! Gorgeous dogs! Love Sasha's head! Someday, when I have the land, time and resources, I will own the real deal. Then, since you're so good at building kennels... you can come help with mine. :p

 

Sasha definitely leans more towards the Sparky side of my dogs more so than the Geachiman side of the pedigree. She's tucked away safe and sound, as is Flip Flop. Pumpkin is probably my favorite dog here with the exception of her mother.
I talk to Promoe pretty much weekly and he likes her alot, says she's a great dog personality wise, structure wise feels she should be shown in the conformation ring. I haven't seen her in person in a year but I trust him and his judgment in whatever she will become. I also talk with TUDK at least once a month and he very much likes Sasha. Tells me all the time no amount of money would he sell her for which I always like to hear. Living in the city limits kind of ties my hands on the numbers I can keep so I put dogs in the hands of people I feel I can trust. Many times people tell you want you to hear to get something from you and I've been screwed over with dogs more times than I care to count. I don't ever worry about that with either of those dogs owners. Others I've placed ended up putting up pedigrees of bredings off dogs that ain't even born yet. That shit I fucking hate. Shows intentions immediately and I'll cut those folks off fast and quick like. Then there are the ones that once they get what they want from you, you'll never hear from them again. Another situation I can't stand but it happens. I keep most everything fairly close to me, here or with people I can trust to do right by the dogs, don't always work out but many times, it does.

 

Been around flip flop more than a few times and she is beautiful in both structure and temperment. Really like what geech throws AGK!

It''s not very often I throw a true black dog, most come out seal because of BBD''s Uncle sams influence but when I do produce one, it stays. I let 1 black one go and it was to a buddy in Florida. That was more of a chess move to get her bred to Uturn. Since he passed months ago, actually, the day before she was too be bred to him, his son Titus is who's planned to get stuck to her now. He's off Uturn x Storm.
