The thing is Boxbulldog was talking about his Grandad serving in the first World War, nothing to do with stopping immigration. If the Germans had won that war, allied with Prussia/austria-Hungary and the Ottoman empire (Turks), everything would have been different. The rise of National Socialism only started in Germany after the harsh sanctions of the treaty of Versailles and the depression of the 1920's. Hitler would have never risen to power, just fought in WW1 and probably selling his shitty artwork on the street, if the Germans and Turks had won. Problem with Germany now is they are trying so hard, much like most of Western Europe, UK inc. with it's old colonial days etc., to prove they are not predjudice, and we all bend over backwards out of guilt.

Hitler was a nutcase and is responsible for the death of 10's of millions of people. We all would have suffered under his rule had they won in WW2.

EBT what is your opinion on my Grandfathers dog? Do you think he was a bull terrier apbt mix of some type? To me he resembles a dog more like frisco sport which Robertosilva posted which was 50/50mix than a pure bullterrier. I would like your views on it I respect and admire your knowledge of the dogs.

Even though you are not asking me the nearest pure looks wise I think would be the dog on the left, a Bull Terrier. But who knows except your grandfather.

I think if the dog on the left had a short battle crop on the ears it would look spot on to my grandfathers dog. See I never got to talk to him about his dog. He died when I was a very young boy and he was almost 100 years old. I have just been told story's by family and was told that he always talked a lot about his dog he thought very highly of that one a dog of a life time so to speak.

I think they look very similiar in the face. Only your Grandfather would know. It is the spirit of the dog that counts and it sounds like your Grandfather's dog had that and that is really all that matters. Your photograph is a very nice one and has a nice bit of history behind it as well. Whether Bull Terrier or Pit Bull Terrier or somewhere in between, if it worked, it worked. Sounds like he rated it highly and the dog did him proud.

I guess the first question is: what is a pit bull? Or rather, what was a pit bull 100+ years ago? I don't think things were so clearly defined in those days - like they are now - that you could separate all the bull-and-terrier breeds just by looking at them.

In the beginning, pit dogs were used to create bull terriers. Then some bull terriers were crossed back to pit dogs. Then pit dogs were again crossed to bull terriers to improve the gene pool and overall health of the breed. In the early days of the breed, Staffys were pit bulls by another name - like the early Amstaffs. There's no doubt many were just as game as their pit bull cousins. For all we know - like working line and showline german shepherds in modern times - there may well have been working line and show line bull terriers and staffies in those days as well. There is some evidence this may have been the case.

A pit bull was really whatever worked at the time, and - as we know - came in many shapes and sizes (as they still do, to an extent). The American Pit Bull Terrier, as a breed, didn't really develop until well after the 19th century as dog fighting became less common in the UK and continued in the US. The US pit dogs continued to evolve along their own lines, with many different lines at that. They were also bred to be utalitarian, adapted to their own environments, as they were used to guard property and track and hunt other animals.

If you talk about the modern bull terrier, staffy, Amstaff, APBT etc, there are clear delineations. But for those of us who weren't around 100 years ago - which was all of us - who knows?

What colours? If that means wanting my country rid of all these recent migrants then hell yeah. Our country is at breaking point, our health service on it's last legs.

We cannot nor should we cater for these vermin that wish Ill on our people and our culture, Merkel and her cronies should be hung for treason and I hope she gets gang raped by some of these savages from Syria like the innocent German women are!!!!

If the Germans had one that war then you're right, the once great nation wouldn't have been suffocated and starved by the treaties and would have allowed it's people to prosper, you cage a Tiger you better be prepared to be bit. This is coming from an Englishmen, we should have always been allies with our cousins and not sworn enemies.....

So basically you're admitting the Yanks never added anything to the mix.

If that's the case then soon we should have the Russian Pitbull Terrier, the Serbian Pitbull Terrier, the Brazilian Pitbull Terrier.

All they did was preserve the breed and possibly improve it over time due to more selection and slacker laws at the time.

Bull Terrier in those days wasn't necessarily a name solely used for the Hinks type dogs, the old Pit Dogs (APBT) were also called Bull Terriers by certain people over the years.

That's what I mean, plenty other breeds were useful at one point in their history, it's nothing unique to the Bull Terrier. The thing is, the Bull Terrier was created for it's looks right from the start...

Lmao you posting some knowledge on this thread. If you ever want a game ebt, tell me. I'll check to see if anyone I know has a litter.

Also sport was half and half, and his show ancestors banjo and peer were definitely driven. To say the least.
