Never seen a dog pull w8?If a lower ass end is pushing into a bigger front end, the strength is unbeatable...Picture the angle they pull and how much of thier total body their using...
This was Tudors favorite build, he said it was a THROWBACK to his old HENRY dogs that cut thru the compition like butter, the same body type applies in modern weight pulling...
Back your ass with reason not some sh!t you imagine...

The angulation of the lower rear does infact increase traction.its like letting the pressure down in a drag.gotta have the right engine and frame to contain the power.

A good way to phrase it is the angulation...GREAT OBSERVATION McCOY...

Right on! Tall and rangy equals more power.......leverage and fulcrum placement is crucial, as are longer muscles.

Bones are levers and joints are fulcrums. Muscles are the power source. The power applied to the lever is more effective the farther away from the fulcrum it is applied. The longer the muscle, the greater the difference between its relaxed state and contracted state, the greater the power. Shorter, low stifled, muscular dogs are at a disadvantage at driving power due to loss of leverage.

As long as sled dogs have been around if this theory was correct they would be shaped like hyenas by now.

Just to clarify..in case I confused anyone...I am not talking "natural" ..I am saying that the pullers......when pulling...their rear end is digging..and the front end comes up..kinda like that black car on fast n furious..but the animal is not sway backed..like them belly draggn bully dogs..

There are a couple examples of this in the last episode of the gazette...in the spotlight..

Pistola I have seen a few and could care less what Tudor says because almost all match dogs have ideal conformation i.e. the picture of the male of the month Vicki's OJ! A lower backend pushing into a bigger front end is counter productive! During a match a dog does most it's work off it's back end pushing, not only it's weight but the weight of another dog. The bigger the backend the more power a dog can generate to push not only itself but another dog. Now as far as modern day match dogs they have the conformation of dogs such as the picture of Vicki's OJ and this is the ideal build of almost all past and present day match dogs!

I don't feel as if a longer or larger back end is good or bad it's what the animal can do with it that matters most i do prefer to look at a well rounded dog that doesn't show any unproprtion lengths or what have u like a dog with a giant head it's a disadvantage in a hunters perspective

my thoughts exactly... if it were a "throwback" to mayday i figure it would be larger as opposed to smaller... looks to me to be a defect in the dog genetically

  16. ELIAS'PISTOLA

    ELIAS'PISTOLA CH Dog

Not all mayday stuff was big and the Hollingstworth dogs were average size dogs...
The build sounds similar to a tight Mayday dog...
50#s of slop in a 40# bag with the back higher than the front pushing itself heel over head...
A genetic defect is correct unless you are judging on a English Bulldogge standard...

Cant argue with a "perfect build" by any means...
As over all balance a "perfect build" is superior at a vast range of tasks...
BUT I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE OPPISITE OF THIS DOG LANSFORD SPEAKS OF, NOT A PERFECT BUILD AT ALL...
BUT FAR FROM A HYENA, A SLIGHTLY SHORTER BACK END THAT TAPERS TO A BIGGER FRONT...
THE EXPLOSION FROM THESE BUILT ANIMALS IS UNMATCHED...
ASK DON KING ABOUT THE "ANGULAR" ERUPTION THAT THE ONE AND ONLY MIKE TYSON DELIVERED...
SURE MIKE WAS NO TRACK STAR,BUT...
PROOF IS IN THE PUNCH AND MOST TRACK STARS CANT HANDLE THE UPPERCUT...

but if you look at the pic of the dog in question it looks less than 12 inches at the shoulders lmao... (maybe not the short... but short) someone else posted a pic of a smaller dog but of a "normal" height
