Sampson most of the lines carry the name of the dogman in front or some may carry the name of the dogman ex. Lonzo=Lonzo Pratt.

if you look back Mr Floyd also had a period where he was crossing heavy Pistol pete into the eli blood and also the boss strand is also a nice strand these days but not too many ppl know and also clemmons bred to Zebo to get Nigger Toby which was bascially a 50 50 cross of Eli and Zebo(Lonzo)

IMO Carver dogs were scatter bred more or less it seemed he took what was good here and then bred it there and came out with decent stock and built on it to make it his own he had in his first few heavy dibo and some rascal corvino williams stuff of that nature which I can't speak on to much but may you and I can both be schooled on it

How were his dogs bred then Ben? I honestly dont know what his stock was like can you shed some light?

he had a lot of different stock, but they weren't scatter bred. his best asset was making good choices when it came to picking dogs. he went with what was working at the time stuff from tudor, hinzel,E shaw, colby, corvino, long. most guys at that time were running similar blood but mo just had the "eye" to spot good dogs. just look at ironhead, missy, blsckshine & work backwards from there or look at Eshaws reno & work your way forward to get a better idea of his earlier stock.

the only dog that got a headstone made for him was ironhead. so i guess that can be looked at as his favorite dog. he alos named "stompanato" after his friend johnny stompanato so im sure hi was a favorite dog of his as well. he wrote about cracker being one of his best match dogs & was really high on that dog as well. & in a interview he said he liked bullyson because of his high stud fee lol. i guess the only true answer would be from carver hiself & it may only be a half true answer lol.

Carver sure as hell had some of the greatest dogs around. His bloodlines was very popular with top dogmen. It just seems he was involved with some of the greatest in 1 way or another in his time. How many people can say 25 + years after they are gone guys would still be talking about them?

BB I read a story years ago how Carver gave Hooten Indian Bolio as pup for awhile.Norman said he would have Bolio go around with him on the ranch.Norman said when Carver came back to get him,Norman asked him if would sell him to Norman.Carver said he had other plans for Bolio.Did u ever read that?

& we will be talking about him for another 25, just like we talk about feely, lightener, colby. the greats will always be remembered for what they gave us. i don't know of any other breed of dog where the men behind them are talked about just as much as the dogs themselves.
