3/4'' softwood, but i want to make new ones @1/2'' out of oak! mine are too thick and to much bulk, for my liking!

and was told a few times that 1/4'' -1/2'' oak would be plenty strong and light weight! might save my self some grief!

can't find a source for the (bulk 72mm inline skate wheels) need 40 of them, the same tho!
and i had a guy giving me fire hose as i was going to use that for belt material, i found bulk abec-7 bears for like $30-$40, and i have the end 4 rolling wheels, but can't get them off the current shaft there on, i stripped the collar locking nut. I'll get a pic of them for you later~! tryed liquid wrench and pounding them out, but no luck yet
! they were off an old carpet cleaner, but all 4 tires match!

if you have links for the
inline skate wheels and bearing, and where to get the rubber and split rims you got , i can order mine Monday!

i tried to order the split rims but the shipping was ridiculous and backed out of it!

you got it set up nice, just try to stabilize it better! a bit! he will be more apt to run faster, when they feel safer!, Mine was a shaky at first!, so i just put a wider stance! for the height of it!

    looks awesome tho!

and the slat turned out great too!

Wow Max looks pretty good. We tried to breed to him last year but could never get ahold of you all when the bitch was ready. Is he still producing? Is there any straws off him? Good to see he is still happy to work!

Here is a short one of mine on a mill - she never ran on this one before - not quite as smooth as what she is used to.

Buck try here http://www.mfgsupply.com/GoMini.html/mv_session_id=MSy6ZHet 2- 6" split wheels , 4 hubs and 8 bearings should run you about $120 I dont know what the shipping would be to Canada though. But if you want to go cheaper than that go to you local hardware store and pick up the Lawnmower wheels with the built in bearings , some threaded rod and nuts and a cut out some plywood circles a little bigger than the wheel to keep the slats on track .

Are you ripping the slats down to size with a band saw and guide fence or another way ?
Caine 25 what are the dimensions of your mill and how long is the belt ?

instead of cutting cyrcles out of ply wood just use a old wood spole that wire comes on .

    Mextra,

The initial prototype's dimensions as follows. The horizontal tube's length is 4ft. Front and rear main wheels were 8in and 5in and stuck out a couple inches in the front and back. I used 44 slats with very minimal spacing. The dimensions were 14"L x 2.5" x 3/8".

I paid $2plus per piece of red oak slat that were professionally cut locally. If anyone else has a better source, please let me know. Cutting them on my own is not an option (I tried, lol).

Latest Prototype - Square Tube Slat Mill with double row inline wheels per side.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

The circle tube prototype was too unstable, and the running surface length was too short. Therefore we threw together some 4ft square tubing. I bit the bullet and got more wheels from my friend as well to try the double row per side style of roller bed.

Now, the running surface is a full 4ft before the main wheels. Main Wheels are 5in. We added my 4 remaining slats bringing the total to 50, 2.5" wide slats. We now have 32 inline wheels per side, 64 total.

Although the double row did significantly reduce the amount of slat rock, and made it run a lot smoother, I'm still leaning towards switching to skate board wheels. Reason being, the roller bed alone doubled in weight and plus the labor involved with adding all those wheels. I'm not lazy, but my friend's homemade mill runs just as smooth with the 53mm skate wheels.

Below is a short video. Main wheels still need adjustment and extra belt needs to be trimmed around connection points (bumpy ride)
