Me and a friend(ART) was talking about that breeding practice the other day, and to tell you the truth its not a bad idea IMO. No time soon but one day I shall try this out. First, you gotta get a bitch you wanna bred. Nowadays this won't be hard to find since everybody is a breeder.LOL! Next, find two good sires whatever floats your boat, hopefully they will be good representers of the breed. They all have to be DNA profiled or are willing to be DNA profiled. Now, wait untill the bitch is ready to breed, just as you would, let the male#1 beat then let male#2 do his thing. I have never done this so this is just what I would do. On the days you would normally breed you let both dogs have a go and alternate who goes first. When the litter is born have the test done to see which pup is from which sire and now you have half brother/sister littermates.

I'm not sure of how it's done. It seems like both in the same day would be a bit much forthe bitch. but i have hurd of it being done. there is a thread out there on it. .

It can be done....but what is your reason for doing it... You really didn't state why...

This sounds a bit experimental to me and if it's something you have never done before you should probably get someone involved who has actually done this type of breeding before with success and knows what they are doing JMO... Just to dual sire a litter for the hell of it is a bad idea. I am with CLKennels what is your reasoning behind wanting to dual sire this future litter? Just curious ...

  6. Only positive i can see out of it is if you are planning on inbreeding the haf/half littermates. Cuts down on time, and number of dogs from two different breedings.

OR if you have a red/red bitch, and a red/red male, and a blk male with no red/red blood, each pup will show which dog is the sire IF the blk sire has no red blood the easy way to find this out is breed him to a red/red bitch and see if any pups came out with a red nose on thet breeding. It is a good thing if your bitch is a good producer.

You guy's never head of this?

DNA them and you got two sires, hell it's been done 1000 of Times

Well instead of two breedings you get to watch 2 sets of pups grow up. See which ones work, and you which sire to go back to later.

Marty I have heard of it .. But the way he made it sound was like he just wanted to up and try it for the hell of it one day. I think anytime you do anything like this you should have a reason to do it in the first place . I don't think you should just be doing this just for the fun of it .. JMO though.

The reason: cause I can.LOL! That would be the A-hole response. But for real, I would do it for a couple of reasons. 1, If I had two males I wanted dogs off of and my bitch was in heat I would do it instead of waiting. 2, If I wanted to see what else clicks with my bitches blood I would pick two different bloodlines and go for it. 3, just to see what would happen, Every dogman goes by what he has heard or seen, I like to do things untraditional at times. It might work it might not but I'm not harming the breed or breaking any laws except for those of you who think there should be just on sire per litter.

  12. The easiest way to tell is like Bobbyrooster said, if one of the males is homozygous recessive and the female is also homozygous recessive. I dont know what colors are recessive and dominant in pitbulls. This would only work if like said one of the males and the females is homozygous recessive for a certain trait. If both males are heterozygous or homozygous dominant you would have to DNA.

Lesson in Gregor Mendel genetics lol. Bust out some punnet squares.

We all know it can be done and therefore we know its been done plenty of times...I wanted to know why he wanted to do it... The original post it looked like he wanted to experiment on something he heard could be done...

Well CLKENNELS, your right. I do want to experiment, nothing under the sun is new, meaning that everything on a daily basis we do has been done before and is just being repeated. Now you get the A-hole response, Cause I can do it if I want to now what.LOL!

I know a few people who've done this. Most have wound up w/pups from just 1 sire, I know of a litter of 7-8, all but 1 were from 1 sire.

c'mon people, its just for disscusion. If you think about what you don't put on the internet and you do anyway it can't be worst than that. And for the people who have a problem with it, fine.

Any A-hole can dual sire dogs ... That doesn't mean they know what they are doing reagrdless of how long the method has been around. Mac your right you can breed whatever you want however you want that's your affair and who the hell are we to tell you otherwise. Lots of BYB's breeding and don't have a clue what end is up. I am not saying your a BYB .. but the way you came off in your OP it sounded like you caught wind of something new and wanted to test it out without having a clue as to why you were even doing it in the first place. Either way best of luck to you Bro.

OK but he did say this... They all have to be DNA profiled or are willing to be DNA profiled. so he's right and I have to defined him here )
