smaller dogs

Discussion in 'APBT Bloodlines' started by carolinablu, Jan 23, 2009.

  1. my dog past away over a year ago and i am ready to purchase another apbt, i remember when i went to pick up my dog the guy had a dog that probally weighed 25 to 30 pounds and was really low to the ground she was probally the smallest apbt i have ever seen, i got my dog from a different bloodline than this female and never inquired about her blood, it's been over 13yrs and i lost contact with the guy and i would like to know what bloodlines would produce a dog of that size shorter than your average apbt and close to 25/30 pounds.

  2. LOL, funny that you mentioned and label it as "shorter than your average apbt". Dogman preferred small dogs more the further back you go in time. The trend for bigger dogs was taken on by the newer generations....obviously some newbies took it to the extreme and developed the 120-lb pit bulls the Media has come to learn and profit from.

Yeah i was going to say the same thing Cooter said. It was probably a SBT...... As far as APBT go the Boyles line has alot of smaller dogs in it but They arent short. they are evenly propotioned just lighter weights. I seen smaller dogs in other bloodlines too. but the dog you decribed sounds like a SBT. cool lil dogs.

You also have to understand that Midnight cowboy is not the only blood that's present in your dog. Alot of cowboy blooded dogs were and are black but there are also buckskin color dogs too.

Like I stated before, Ill take a 20-22lb bitch over anything. Something about them small intense dogs I really like.

I had a few bitches that didnt weigh more than 25lbs, awesome animals. Its funny to me to see such a small creature have such a big heart and think its the shit (and really be the shit).

And about the midnight cowboy blood they can come in all colors. Ch baindaid was pure cowboy and she was mostly white with some brownish spots. but most of the dogs do come buckskin , Black or choc red.

No you didn't, but you said your pup off shorty cowboy (from midnight cowboy). Your bitchs sire was 3x shorty cowboy he appears in the third gen. And midnight cowboy appears in his fourth. You got flippy when I said to understand that the cowboy blood was not the only influence in your pup. But you did make it seem that she had a heavy dose of it in her.

The Lonzo line also has it's fair share of the smaller dogs..... I'm a big fan of the lil ones too.

The dog of the month of December is mine, and she's 28lbs conditioned. There are many lines that throw small; cottingham, rascal, boyles, midnight cowboy, devil's deacon dogs, bolio, hollingsworth stuff. There are becoming my favorite because they tend to have more energy and a higher work ethic than most larger lines. I won't buy anything over 45lbs personally. Conditioning a small dog is so much fun and they give 110% everytime.
