We are dedicated to the preservation of the pit bull in its original form as a game-bred dog and in its modern incarnations as a loving companion pet and top competitor in weight pull competitions and conformation shows.
We are opposed to all forms of animal cruelty, and do not promote any illegal activities, but we celebrate the history of the pit bull and value its qualities of courage, strength and tenacity as the essence of the breed.
We are therefore against all forms of breed-specific legislation, and work to protect the constitutional rights of pit bull owners.

I need some advice here..
Ok, on my GSD forum, theres guy who just "rescued" a pitt bull pup.
He said that AKC doesnt regonize APBTs? Then I read that another name for APBT was The American Staffordshire Terrier.. is that true? He says its not..
He also made a comment about amstiffs.. what are those?
Thanks in Advance...

Re: I need some advice here..
no, AKC does not recgonize the APBT as a breed. What it did, years ago, was created the show counterpart to the apbt..and for those people who wanted a more "standard" type of dog and to further themselves from the "pit" and "fighting" so to speak the American Staffordshire Terrier, also known as the Am Staff for short.
Due to the different breeding practices and reasons for the two, they are no longer considered the same breed of dog by many and in alot of opinions, should not be crossed.
Unfortunelty to further confuse people, registries like the UKC lump both breeds under the APBT ..and thus many Am Staffs are dual registered as APBTs ONLY because of how the registry registers them.. whixh makes people believe that the 2 breeds are still the same...
