Welcome to the Pit Bull Forums.

Welcome to Pit Bull Community!

We are dedicated to the preservation of the pit bull in its original form as a game-bred dog and in its modern incarnations as a loving companion pet and top competitor in weight pull competitions and conformation shows.

We are opposed to all forms of animal cruelty, and do not promote any illegal activities, but we celebrate the history of the pit bull and value its qualities of courage, strength and tenacity as the essence of the breed.

We are therefore against all forms of breed-specific legislation, and work to protect the constitutional rights of pit bull owners.

Question What Went Down In Nyc?
I Live In Nc Have A Couple Of Friends That Were Telling Me That There Was A Bill Passed Saying That Pits Were Banned In The City Is This True And If So Why No Media Coverage Or Petitions We Could Have Signed To Help? If I'm Not Mistaken If Your Dog Has Ever Harmed Anyone They Will Be Removed If You Have A Pit That Hasn't Had A Conflict You Can Move Him Out Of Nyc? Any Truth To Any Of This?

Default Re: What Went Down In Nyc?
Good morning,
In my town (oshawa Ontario) they say that pits are banned as well but the reality of it is that pits and their owners are on stricked restrictions. Ie-We must have a muzzle on all pits out side of your home, they must be on a leash on all times, no breeding, buying or selling of any kind. And the list goes on, if we don't follow these rules we could be finned from $500 to $1000 or even have our dogs taken away. There was no media coverage we also heard of the rumors. And if you go on the net to the government laws and regulations it states that this bill was passed this past March of 2005 in my area. If you check it out it'll tell you your restrictions of your area if any.
