There are people who raise Staffybulls that still have working ability. One of those would be a wonderful dog to have. Some of the show dogs are staring to go the way of the english bulldog though.

I would recomend those interested in working staffords to avoid almost everything of the stuff found on the net! Those dogs are not truly working dogs, just a bit more "athletic" than the standard KC stafford.

There are very few honest working staffords around these days! But amongst those few and almost exctinct dogs there are those that would be concidered to be good and honest dogs by anyones standard.

What happened was shortly this, when the APBT made it to the Uk and Ireland in the 1970īs a new world opened to the dogmen there. The APBT scene where much bigger over in the states, and it was all of a sudden possible to them to seek out some extremly good dogs, and take advantage over the bigger breeding circuit in the states. They took the dogs back and they started to win over the staffords. And after a while the old staffords where completely abandoned for the APBT. Now recently I heard people saying they where a bit quick to boot the stafford.

Today there are a few dogmen around Europe keeping the old strains, but compared with the amount of people keeping Pit Bulls its just a mather of time before the old working staffords are extinct! I kinda think of the staffords as something of the old days! Because when you see old pictures of the american dogs dating from the early 1900īs, those dogs often reassemble the working staffords in every way! And when people describe the mentality of those old time pitbulls it surely enough reminds me about the quarky and easy going attitude of the working staffords too.

Hope you got something out of my post. Dont know if it was much of a contribution. Cheers

/Remo
