Welcome to the Pit Bull Forums.

Welcome to Pit Bull Community!

We are dedicated to the preservation of the pit bull in its original form as a game-bred dog and in its modern incarnations as a loving companion pet and top competitor in weight pull competitions and conformation shows.

We are opposed to all forms of animal cruelty, and do not promote any illegal activities, but we celebrate the history of the pit bull and value its qualities of courage, strength and tenacity as the essence of the breed.

We are therefore against all forms of breed-specific legislation, and work to protect the constitutional rights of pit bull owners.

Dog saved by cops

A nine-year-old pitbull was rescued by police Saturday after the dog's owner was seen allegedly hitting and kicking her in a west-end park.

Kya, a pitbull and Labrador mix, was walking with a family in the park when the father allegedly started abusing the animal.

"Even the children told him to stop and police intervened before any permanent damage was done to the animal," said Toronto Humane Society spokesman Ian McConachie.

The man surrendered the animal to the Toronto Humane Society. Kya will be available for adoption as soon as the shelter gets her vet records.

The owner, whose name was not released, was charged by Toronto Police with animal cruelty.

If convicted, the man could be sentenced to two years in jail, face a $50,000 fine and have a lifetime ban from owning a pet.
