My pit is about 14 months old and has just recently developed what I think is an allergy problem. His eyes are a little swollen and puffy, eye boogers have increased in frequency, I notice he has a runny nose a lot more often and sometimes hes acts like he cant breathe through his nose. He has also become a lot more lethargic in the last week or so. We still live in the same place we always have since we got him and I dont know of any other discernible changes in his environment. I thought I would ask for your good people's advice or suggestions before I took him to the vet (Im not a fan of vets, had a bad experience with one and dont trust them anymore). Thanks for any help you can give me.

Possibly could be a food allergy, what are you feeding?

then you just haven't found the right Vet. Contact a couple local rescue groups and ask what Vet they use. These are typically the big hearted vets and still care about what they are doing and the reason they got into it. The eye thing could be a number of things.

I agree. Could be conjunctivitus, cherry eye. I would find a vet and let him diagnos it first.

Is your dog fully vaccinated and up to date on vx?
Do you take your dog outside of his yard?
Has your dog been exsposed to other dogs?
Does your dog have a yellowish or green discharge? or is it clear?
Have you taken your dogs temp? Is your dogs food/h2o consumption normal?
is your dog displaying any twitching or trembling?
Lethargic, how so? when posing these medical questions you need to be more descript! :)
The reason I ask, is the descript you gave doesnt sound like allergies to me. When I look for allergie symptons I'm looking for derm issues, I look at the skin, does your dog have any inflamed irratated area's, staph crust? exscessive licking or scratching? hair loss? Feet, I also look in and at the ears.
My advice take your dog into your vets office.
Regards.

ditto for me. Not, imo, indicative of allergies. Have a DVM check him out. Find one you feel COMFORTABLE with...
