A SAOVA message to sportsmen, farmers and pet owners concerned about protecting their traditions, avocations and livelihoods from anti-hunting, anti-breeding, animal guardianship advocates. Forwarding and cross posting, with attribution, encouraged.
Dear Friends,
I earlier sent many of you a list of S1139 cosponsors and requested that you contact your representatives and ask that they withdraw their support from this devastating, anti-hunting dog, anti-pet breeder bill. That message also suggested warning other legislators that PAWS was a bad, ill-conceived bill and that you opposed it. In some instances, that may be to a futile exercise, reviewing the Rick Santorum-HSUS 2001 "Puppy Protection Act" S1478 sponsorship list. Many of the same cast of characters is again involved again, trying to expand federal licensing to include hobby breeders. That shouldn't prevent you from telling politicians what you think about PAWS.
Take encouragement from S1478's defeat in 2002. S1139 (PAWS) is a worse bill, with less legislative support, at least currently.
