I took my baby to the vet she was missing a patch of fur in two spot.....i thought is was from her digging in the yard and trying to go under the fence, but the vet said she could have heartworm. I can't afford heartguard ot anything right now so i was wondering if anyone know what i can do to heal her until i can get her medication

I hate to come off as a jerk but if you cant afford to take care of the dog, why have it? Heartworm preventative medicine is very cheap compared to some problems you could have!

Heartworms do not cause patches of hair loss. Are you sure the vet didn't say "ringworm"?
But since we're semi-discussing heartworms, if your dog hasn't been on prevention, chances are he's got them. They are fatal! Heartguard for a 50-100lb dog costs $90 a year. That's less than $10 per month. I'm sure people spend more than $10 a month on just movie rentals. Let's see...."The Ring" or a dead dog.....hmmm.....

I agree with Mia heartworm prevention medicine isn't all that expencive. Most people spend more than that eating at fast food places. I would rather pay for the heartworm prevention medicine than have to pay for the treatment if/when the dog was infected with heartworms.

ring worms are easy to clear up, some blue star ointment, if they are where he can't lick on them..ie the face.....
or get ya a green walnut, scrape the green out shell/skin till it make some juice, apply that juice to the area..and whallaaaaa the ringworm is no more.. :)
wow that was a back woods remedy. pretty cool if it works though.

works on humans, and goats.....
never tried a dog, but if it works for them two....surely it would work with a doggie...

Rock's right. It could be a number of things. A skin scrape & a fungul culture would be the best route.

I'M SURE YOU WERE NOT THE ONLY ONE THINKING THIS B/C I KNOW I WAS.
I pay $64.00 a year for MIKA's heartworm preventative pills and $80.00 for Samson's.
