im dylan 29 a financial consultand and a former marine im in a new war to help our american pal the pit bull. here my question and thughts,

first im coming into some serious money from a stock i brought public if anyone wants to know about ta stock that is going to make 600 times ur investment get back to me but this is why im here on the forum is lets say i have a few million im 30 years old what can i do to open my own shelter or do i not need to to rescue 10 pits a month and then adopt them out.

ya see theres to many pits in shelters in nyc most kill shelter which is where i got george at 8 weeks and he had days to live. can u imagine a baby with days to live cause of his breed.

meanwhile since i got him he changed my life this breed is... well so much and everyone here knows what i mean and i a us marine will shed tears every sad story i hear about pits being euthinized or mis treaded by these punks so i wanna help but not by donations i wanna be in the trenches and rescue them reabilate them then find them a good home.

how and where do I start when im ready

ps this is a great site and i personally thank everyone for seeing and wanti ng to protect the best animal on the planet

one suggestion is to talk with the founders, or chairmen of other no-kill pit bull exculsive rescues, they would be the people with the best information for you if that's what you want to do.

Get your non-profit status first, through a lawyer and a accontant, alot of them will do this for free, this is a 501c3. You can apply for this yourself also, it is just a little bit of work to do it yourself. Have a mission statement, meaning; what it is you want to accomplish for these animals. It takes about 6mos to get a 501c3, then find some land and do your thing, all tax free and on the up and up.

hi dilydaly and welcome,
i've got some experience with local rescue efforts, as do a number of other people on here, and i also know how to legally form and operate a rescue group. it usually takes a decent facility (which is where some of the money may go) and then a lot of daily effort taking care of the dogs and finding networks for placing them. if you' haven't worked with pit bull rescue groups before, you may want to find some and volunteer so that you know what all is involved (are you in NYC or in Florida?) you could look at the website of badrap.org for a model.

also, with so much money, you make want to contribute to a larger anti-BSL effort to combat the root of the problem rather than just its effects. if you pm me i'd be happy to chat more about this. there are also lots of other good folks on here who may have some ideas for you. good luck! :)

On behalf of this breed, "Thankyou"! TRULY, we need more folks like you!.As mentioned "Bad Rap" in San Fran is a great place to start. They are a wonderful organization, and can point you in the right direction. Also, try under Google, "pitbull rescue organizations", and see where that takes you! I applaud you. I commend you!!! LOTS of answers to any questions asked, as this breed can use ANY positive help. Tx again!!! And, the BEST of luck to you!!!!

This is GREAT news to here DilyDaly!!! I will look up some info for you from a shelter in a near-by county here in Ohio that is a pitbull shelter. My husband and I just bought a house with LOTS of land and have been thinking of adopting. We will be going out there Wednesday so i will try to get some info for you.
