he's a nice lookin dog either way! you'd need to post a ped to see what bloodlines he has in him. you can probably do a search on gator bloodlines and see what names are associated with what and compare them to your dogs ped. hope that helps a lil. i'm not too familiar with the line myself. sorry

if he didn't have a ped, he's probably full of it,,and just talkin. i sent ya an pm about the original "alligator" dog. but if you don't have a ped to reference, none of that'll help. just take care of your new pup. you can talk to the guy,,ask him what the name of the parents are,, the whole name ""soanso's fido" for example,, then try to get the grandparents name too. with these names you may be able to get somebody to use peds online to track down some of the dogs blood. either way,, good luck. and i'd have your dog fixed too! best regards

Bloodlines are not determined by looks. Talk to the guy get some more info, if he has any. Be careful next time you get a dog, make sure the facts are in front of you.

To begin with, there is no way at all to determine a dog's bloodlines by looks. Additionally, there is even no way to determine if your dog is a "full blooded pit bull". Without a pedigree from an honest knowledgeable breeder, there's just no way to know. And no, there is no blood test that can tell you either.

As far as being "Gator", there are so many "Gator" dogs (thousands if you count just those registered with the name "Gator") that there is no way to even know which one you're trying to find info on. Although many people say that certain bloodlines throw dogs with similar physical traits, I haven't seen enough to prove that as a fact. There are just too many variances within every bloodline as these dogs were not bred for form, but rather for function.

Unfortunately, "Gator" dogs remain the favorite lines by which to sell puppies. Other touted lines are "Ch. Boudreaux aka Ch. Boodro", "Ch. Chinamen", "Ch. Carver", "American", "English", "Red Nose", "Blue", & "Blue Nose". All of these mentioned terms are thrown out there when uneducated puppy peddling back yard breeders are trying to convince someone to by their puppies over the 17 litters that can be found just down the street.

I for one think your pup is gorgeous no matter what her genetic make-up is. That being said, the best thing for you to do is stop wasting energy & time trying to find out information that you will never find most probably because it's either a lie or was never available to begin with. Have that dog spayed or neutered as you have no idea what is actually in her genes. Raise her to be a wonderful positive example of this breed and strive for the goal of having people say "Oh what a beautiful & sweet pit bull that is! I've never met a pit bull before but she's so nice!". Raising your dog with that kind of goal will do more good not only to your dog & you, but to us & the entire pit bull community itself.

Once this baby is grown up, then if you want, think about getting an APBT from an honest & trustworthy owner who occasionally has a pup available (these are the good ones). But in the meantime, stick around! There's so much to learn on this site; everything from basic puppy care & training to information on several different bloodlines. Go out & buy some books & read as much as you can. Then next time, you will be fully prepared to acquire the pup of your dreams.

WELCOME!! :)

I agree very good post by Mia.
Just wanted to mention there is also R. CH GATOR, he was a buckskin rednose, I have a boy and girl off him, they look like his clones, but as mentioned you can't tell a whole bloodline from looks. There are family traits, but it's not 100%.
good luck with your dog
