Yreka, CA -- A three month old red nose pit bull puppy is still missing after being thrown from the car during a single car accident that occurred at 12:45 a.m. Sept. 23.

John William Wiley III, 25, and his passenger, Shannon Wiley, 25, of Farmersville were driving their 1999 Toyota Camry northbound on Interstate 5 just south of the South Weed exit, traveling approximately 75 miles per hour when the car drifted off the roadway. Wiley over-corrected in bringing the car back onto the road and the car slid off the road over turning three times before coming to rest on its wheels. The Wileys were both wearing seat belts and were able to walk away from the accident with minor injuries but their three-month-old puppy was thrown clear and disappeared.

The Wiley's were transported to Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta and treated for minor injuries. They returned to the accident site later that day but could not locate the puppy.

The female pup is red-brown in color with its face half white and white socks on it's feet. She is wearing a red spiked collar and answers to the name of B B Girl. Anyone finding the pup is asked to call the Wiley's at (559) 747-7515.

I always just let my dog in the car what I thought was that if i tied him up and i got in an accident he would get choked and strangled...? how else can you restrain them?? on a harness???

Harness attached to a seatbelt without a lot of slack...

Dont forget a kennel, a properly tied down kennel is the absolute safest place for any dog. However, we all know thats not feasable at all times, so I take a harness and tie it to the seatbelt so the dog doesnt have enough room to get off the seat. On top of that, how you drive with dogs in the car is just as important.

I guess I'm just a poor pitiful knucklehead of a country boy. I took my 2 house dogs with me to the Dr today up to Cassville, MO. about a 150 mile round trip in the back of my truck. :o
