Is it true that if you neuter your dog, he will not have enough testoterone to be a successful puller?
Please clarify this for me.
We would like to see if our puppy (when he's old enough) would be interested in pulling, but Momma wants to get him fixed next month when he turns 6 months old! Is neuturing not recommended for the sport?
I apologize but I am new to weight pulling, and bull dog owning! Thought I'd ask people who have experience with both!
Thanks

Thats not the case, unless you are gunning for the top pull dog in the states it wont matter. However, neutering him does take him out of almost all pull competitions. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you could probably still pull some shows, but you wont get points for it. You came to the right site for info on bulldogs, theres people from every walk of life in here, sometimes we disagree and fight, some of us do diffrent activities, but we all have the general love for bulldogs that keeps us here. Theres plenty of weightpullers in here, so just post whatever you need and someone will be able to help you. Have a good day.

Thank you for the feedback!
I have another question... and I have read the weight pulling section on this site but it doesn't say what is a good age to introduce them to pulling? He is only 5.5 months old now. I'm assuming after a year at least?

the first thing you should do when hes about 10 months is drag weighting....... get a milk jug and put some rocks in it (for noise) and have him pull that around its feather light but its noisy. most dogs will not pull because they are scared of what evers making noise behind them. practice with different things that make different noises too. but make sure they are feather light, until hes 12-14months. dont make the dog pull heavy stuff before 12 months it will seriously hurt the dog.
hope this helps :)

ADBA is about the only organization that doesn't let a neutered dog pull, APA and IWPA, your dog doesn't even need to be registered to pull, and in UKC you can get a limited privilege registration and your dog can compete in competition events.
At 5 1/2 months, I would just get a small harness and walk them around in it, just so they get used to it, once having the harness on doesn't bother them, then move up to something like a small chain that will make noise behind them until they get used to that. Then once they are comfortable with the harness and the noise, start adding weight slowly and in small increments and work your way up.

Please, do not put any weights on your dog until they are completely done growing. Usually around 1.5 years.

I personally think that females pits are a better weight puller than the males.
5 1/2 months is fine to start training. Just take it nice and SLOW and you'll be fine. Stick to drag weighting and concentrate on building the technique of your dog and don't get caught up in how much the dog can pull and instead on how the dog is pulling. On the first question you can pull with the IWPA, APA, UPF and many more organizations with a fixed dog (male or female).
