sound like round worms.. very very common for mom and pups to have them.. generally it takes more than one treatment to rid them completely of worms

pyrantle pamaote works ok..

but best bet, if you arent sure take a sample into your vet and have them test to make sure thats what they are ..

Pyrantle will work fine, what concentration is it? Also Drontal + will work even better.

My daughter has the dogs, she said they look like spaghetti and about 2 inches long, the momma was INFESTED with fleas when she had the pups and fleas cause tapeworms, so i dont know. I have some pyrantle pamoate but it says it just kills roundworms and hookworms, i want something that will kill any of the worms they could possibly have, can anyone tell me what i can get to kill all types of dog worms that a 5 week old pup can take? we need to do all the puppies and the momma, im worried because they had the flea infestation when she had the pups. Fleas are gone now but like i said, there is 'spaghetti' looking worms in the pups poop and i want to give them something that will rid them of ANY of the possible worms..
help!

Sounds like Drontal + is your best choice.

If it looks like spaghetti,it's most likely round worms, they are the most common type in pups. If it was tapeworm, you would see rice like segments on the dogs butt or in the dogs stool. There is no wormer that I know off that kills all worms equally. I use Strongid T for my dogs, gets rid of most worms. The best thing for tapeworms is Droncit.

dang, i was hoping there was something that would kill all worms since im not positive what they are. i would normally think roundworms also, but since they were so flea infested, they almost have to have the flea tapeworm..

dogs get tapeworm from swallowing the fleas...and tapeworms, when they come out, are usually fragmented, but if they do come out somewhat whole, they have a segmented body with a rough edge to them.
It costs about 15-20 dollars to have a stool sample done by a vet.Its always best to have a proper diagnosis.
Good luck:)

Get some Drontal + it will take care of everything (even tapes) and get some flea preventative like Advantage or Frontline or even Revolution.

I used oxfendazole last month just to change things up a bit. It is suppose to get tapes also. If these worms are flat they are most likely tape worms, if round, then round worms of course. Man, did I just sound like a goof or what??? DUH, to me. I'm goin to bed. :D

How many times have they been wormed?. I worm pups one a week until they are 8 weeks, usually dont see any worms after 5 wks if wormed regular, sometimes it takes longer.

i would go with drontal + . and you will have to worm them at two week intervals for awhile

I buy all my worm meds at the vet. That is actually what you really need to do, go to the vet. :)

I used WormX.... not sure if it was the best because I've never wormed at home before. The box recommended it be given at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 weeks. I started it at five weeks and a couple doses and those spagetties were gone!

ok, called the vet and they carry drontal plus, BUT, she said it comes in a pill, each pill is 5 pounds of weight, these pups are only 5 weeks old and i bet they dont weigh a pound yet, so how would i be sure i broke the pills up right so i dont overdose the pups?

Eek. That's some careful pill choppin' you gotta do! lol I did 1/2 a 10lb pill at 5weeks and it was fine. So you could probably do 1/2.

Cheapest place you can find - Advantage, Drontal+, Paratek+, etc etc - www.petshed.com (http://www.petshed.com/)

I buy the 100 pill bottle of Paratek+ all wormer and 6 months supply of Advantage at the same time. It usually takes 5 days to receive the items.

I have done lots of business with them and they are fast and the best price around. You don't need a prescription for their wormers either.

www.calvetsupply.com (http://www.calvetsupply.com/) also sell the liquid style wormers that are better for pups. Nemex-2 and its generic equivalent should work great. You can use an oral syringe and follow the directions to dose them properly. Oral syringes are available at most feed stores or pharmacies.

B
