pitbulls are a very active breed. they are not jus made to stay inside all day. they are working dogs that love to plz. they should be able to get plenty of exercise. run and play. until this happens he will keep releasing all that built up energy into ur house.

A tired pitbull is a happy pitbull. He needs alot of excercize to wear him out. If he is chewing or ripping, give him something that is appropriate for him to chew on. Rawhide, nylabone, kong, rope chew toy etc.

Personally, I use Bitter apple in a spray bottle and "mist" it just over their nose when my two decide to chew. They hate it and stot right away. I also have a squirt gun on hand so I can get them from across the living room.

Try leaving something for him to chew on while he is crated. A black kong with peanut butter and kibble inside, then frozen works great. Also leave a sturdy nylabone or other chew toy in there. Use a metal caribineer clip to secure his cage so he can't get out. You can find them at Home Depot or Lowes.

Sounds like he's doing what most puppies do. Get into everything. Just like a child, you need to follow the rule of thumb, if he can reach it, secure it or color it gone.

My male didn't come out of the annoying puppy stage until he was about 2-1/2 years old.

He's still a puppy, you need time, patience and lots of exercise with him. I saw the pics in your gallery, both are beautiful dogs.

My pup stays in a crate when I'm at work. I always make sure he had plenty of toys with him. His favorites are Kongs. Then I get home the first thing I do is take him running in the yard.

lucy has to be in her crate when she is home alone, which in reality is only about an hour an a half during the week, she gets really mad when she is left alone and she too will try and destroy the house, its like she is saying,,,,,,,see what happens when you leave me mommy!!!! but other than that she is very well behaved, she just hates being alone, and i always make sure that she goes on a long walk before and right after she is in her crate, this way she lets out all that pent up energy. good luck

Honestly from the sounds of it your dog is under exercised and under stimulated. Smart and active dogs require plenty of both or you are going to keep finding exactly what you described in your initial post. A bored high strung dog is going to have a lot of "fun" at your expense. He is in need to hours of daily activity a day and plenty of toys to keep his mind occupied.

hes still a puppy. puppies are destructive. plus if he is not getting enough exercise he is going to be frustrated because he has so much extra energy and nothing to do with it. I wasn't able to let my dog be loose in the house by himself till he was 2 years old.

I agree HighVoltage. My oldest male was crated until he was alittle over two and my youngest still is crated (he is 19 months). Of course when the youngest gets old they will be separated in different parts of the house, but you must make sure with all dogs that they are properly exercised. A tired pup is a happy pup!

I'm going through the same thing. Usually mine (who is also 10 months) is okay in her crate. But how ironic that this topic is started and I get a phone call that Dixie has escaped her crate and torn up a loaf of bread, hoagie bread rolls (she must like bread) and has 2 boxes of cereal strung out ALL OVER the house. This is definitely a first. Time to zip tie this bad lil girl up!!! (Not her, but if you use them all over the crate, it helps keep gaps that are oozied out of closed.)

Yeah, zip ties work really well.As far as excersise your dog needs to get as much he/she needs.I usually hand walk, hand run, little bit of weight pull, spring pole,& tug a war in the house. It's very important for your dog to be stimulated mentaly but also physically.Best of luck.
