Posted by Mylan over at Dogster.com I was on another board, helping the cause and decided to do a fast, little statistics search. Though I found it hard to get a more current year, it's quite an eye opener..

In 2000 3 children were killed by pit bulls nationwide
In 2000 27 children were killed by one or both of their parents in Florida alone

So statiscally speaking, parents are more likely to kill their children then the pit bull....Perhaps more kids shound have pit bulls to protect them from their parents
But on Primetime or Nightline or something, they were talking about how the murder rate for parents killing their children has risen. That's what got me to thinking to find that statistic.

As I said on the other board....

Pit bulls are the LEAST of our worries.

I also read some stats lately that more people were killed by bees each year than by dogs. There's a new book out with all kinds of stats (w/the facts/proof to back it up!) like that.

Good thread, there was a topic about this awhile back with a bunch of intresting facts such as.....your much more likely to drown in a 5 gallon bucket then get killed by a pitbull.

Heres another funny little fact.More people are killed by coconuts{falling out of trees}a year than pit bulls or sharks.

How many people die each year from smoking ? Are those cancer sticks banned? No. Like Mylan said, Pit bulls are the least of our worries.
