If only purchasing one book...The Merck Veterinary Manual is the one to get! Here is a good start to read it online, I dont know how it compares to the real book in hand but it does teach a lot, and Tex is right... knowledge about Vet info should be of the utmost importance before reading other useless info about APBTs. I found this site very informative compared to other books...Tex could you check this out and see if it is like the real manual...

IN the 80's the most popular book by far was Stratton's third book World of the APBT. IT's still my favorite of the ones I've read. I've not, however, read the Complete Gamedog in full. I would say avoid Stratton's last book as his second and third are better. Also avoid Semencic books. The Colby book is good

I've got Roccas book too, but found it more a call to arms to start fighting back against the bullshit surrounding the breed and everyday life than an informative book on bulldogs. He does delve rather deeply into the geneology of many dogs although.

What Rocky posted may be true, but I find the book to be quite a good read so far(just started it, only 100 pages into it or so). He does kind of repeat certain things over and over, but the info on housing and yard setup is good. I appreciate the fact that he seems to want the best for the dogs and explains why this setup is better/safer than this one.

It's not that great of a book. There's much better. If you already don't know about dogs and their lineage, this book is going to be quite confusing and a boring read.
I'd say The Complete Gamedog by Ed & Chris Faron. Not the best by any means, but they cover a wide range of topics. Good for a reference.
