do you think a 8-9 year old bitch can still produce a puppy? Thanks.

Can they? Yes. But the risk of complications are oh so high. I don't do it nor would I do it. BUT, if you're thinking about it, I would first take the bitch to the vet & have them do a thorough physical including running a CBC & Comprehensive Profile to make sure she has no underlying health issues (such as kidney or liver probs) & to make sure she is physically strong enough to handle the task.

I also just want to say that most of our emergency c-sections & cases of either all the pups dying or the bitch dying occur in dogs over the age of 7.

I completely agree with Mia.None of our females (if bred) are bred after 6 years old.Just too many complications start arising with the age.We also see waaaaayyyy too many dogs coming in for Ceaserians.!!!!
