When starting a 6 week keep for your dog how much lbs do you allow yourself to work with before you bring it down to its pit weight?

When starting a 6 week keep for your dog how much lbs do you allow yourself to work with before you bring it down to its pit weight?I am pretty confident nobody here has experience with that.
